Short doesn't mean bad.  Malik might just surprise next year; he ended the year well.

Don't sell Mack short based on his height alone. A good friend of mines son plays ball in that league. He says mack is pretty incredible for his size and says the kid has the heart of a lion.

You're right!  Do not sell Mack short at all (no pun, intended)!  I watched him play 2-3 games at the Peach Jam last summer and he'll be able to overcome his height and size due to being a good shooter; quickness; solid defender and as, you mentioned....  Having the heart of a lion.

I wouldn't have no problems at all, if he ended up a Johnny.  Actually, I'll welcome it.

Why would they redshirt him?  it makes no sense to me.  We have no player on the roster above 6'8.  We have a chance at the NCAA's now and his size and shot-blocking will be crucial.  I thin we need 20 mpg from him.

Also, we could get a JUCO or a stud frosh to come in in 2011 and give us just as much.

I think he would have a better year in 2011 than next year. Let him get some work with this staff for a year, it would pay off for him individually and for the teams sake

Can a player be redshirted even if not injured & he doesn't want to be?

ie: If the coach feels he'd need him more in following year ?

btw, I thind redshirting Quincy last year was best for him and team both.

They won't redshirt him.  We need his size. I actually like his game when he's not fouling everyone in sight.  We know he's a hard worker,  look at his body transformation from season to season.  He has a nice little J as well.  I know i'm in the minority,  but Dele can help next year IMO.

Your probably right.  But i think its kind of hard to redshirt a senior, unless he's completely on board with the decision.

He probably will be, but his value will never be higher for us than next season.  We have nobody on the roster over 6'8!!!! That is tiny.  It's really a non-issue. We need Dele Coker NEXT season.  Simple as that.

We can replace him with a JUCO big that will give us just as much if not more.

Perhaps you didn't hear, we have 9 scholarships open for 2011.  We also got this new coach who has a history of recruiting well.  Relax, Baldi.  That shouldn't be a concern.

9 schollys with zero Big East experience. Dele can ease that situation
