My basis for the statement is that we have one player who can realistically play 4/5 at the BE level, and he's a freshman. We need more size. A lot more.

Once again, there is more to rebounding than size.  Yes, size can help but it isn't essential to boarding.  One of our our best rebounding teams that I can remember lacked size.  The '98-'99 team wasn't tall at all and they usually manhandled the opposition on the boards.

I disagree to you. The '98-'99 team lacked height, but not size.
According to the 1998-99 Guide Artest weighed 246 lbs, Grant 240, Jessie 213, Postell 212 and Thornton 195.

Granted, Artest was solidly-built....  Do you think Artest actually wore 246 lbs?  I don't think he did.  He probably was about 10 lbs lighter.

Regardless, they were undersized and many times were outboarding teams who had them in height and several times, in size.

Rebounding comes down to what I elaborated earlier.  Damn!  Gonzaga has some of y'all spooked.

Looking at some of these recruits clips, one thing is for sure. We'll have one of the most athletic teams in the nation

How can anyone say they know who will be starting? It's all speculation.

Exactly!  No one on this board has seen any of these guys play any extended minutes besides youtube highlights and a couple of Garret's games which were on ESPN. I think MJ and maybe Dave have actually see these guys play enough to the point where i would listen to what they say.

That being said, any proclamations at this point are absurd. Its fine to speculate, but to say anything with absolute certainty is foolish.
I agree.  Last year even knowing most of the players for years I don't recall anyone projecting Hardy, Horne, DJ, Brownlee and Polee as the starters

nuri pg
harrison sg
harkless sf
polee pf
that is a guarantee. If he decides to go small then i belive he will put in pointer at the sf and move polee and harkless up a positon. if he goes big which i think he will he is gonna play the kid big kid from cali

Agreed

Dunno.  I think it's going to be very tough to keep Pointer out of the starting 5.

I think it's possible the starting 5 ends up being irrelevant because everyone ends up playing the same amount of minutes anyway.

I agree I think we will see multiple starting line-ups at least at the beginning of the year.  Also, Lavin has shown it is more important who is on the court at the end of the game than at the start.  Both Coker and Polee started a lot of games last year but both rarely saw time in the final minutes.  Sometimes it is more important to keep guys out of foul trouble and sometimes guy just play better as a starter or 6th man.

Lavin wasn't shy about mixing it up early in the season but he was pretty consistent about who started once he made his mind up.  He had limitations though in that Hardy, Horne and DJ all had to be on the floor together.  Norm never figured that out and split time with Paris and Hardy while Boothe played.  This year there are no limitations and there will be a mad scramble for time at the 1,2 &3.  Based on what little I've seen Harrison looks like a lock to get a nice chunk of minutes somewhere.  Pointer also looks versatile enough to be in that rotation.  I'd give Harkless a slight edge over Polee and Sampson based on offense and Pelle appears to be the frontrunner at the 5.  Boardwork and defense is going to be huge for frontcourt minutes.  God's Gift would complicate things even further.  All good choices though but it'll take a half a season to sort things out.  Matchups will mean a lot but our opponents should be worrying more than us.

If the focus is defense, which it should be imo, then i'd start Pointer and Pelle for sure.  Our best offense next year should be our defense. Let these young athletic kids run up and down.

Pretty sure our best offense next year is going to be Harrison shooting the ball.

Has anyone seen Nuri Lindsay play? IF so, any comparisons?

the one game I watched online the way he moved with the ball reminded me of erik barkley
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

Barkley wasn't a scorer.  How does this guy get all those points?

He also scored 20+ his last year at CTK (I want to say 24 ppg) and (I think) 32 ppg at MCI. Then again, he was at least two years older than other seniors. I think he would have averaged 20 ppg if he stayed at St. John's through his senior year.

barkley could have scored if he wanted to.  He had some excellent teammates at made it a point to get them involved.  One of my favorite players. I wouldn't consider him a scorer just like i wouldn't describe Chris Paul as a  scorer.

Nuri on the other hand is primarily known as a scorer. Not having seen him I was just curious how he accumulates the huge numbers he produces.

I think Nuri is a shoot first guard and i think his competition was a bit on the weak side.  Then again, i might be thinking of Harrison.

It hardly matters who starts.  This team isn't built around starters.  We'll go at minimum 10 deep and I think we'll play just about everybody.  We have a bench full of top 100 guys.  Starting will be more of a motivational tool as e season shakes out, but minutes will be shared by most of the roster until there comes the point that the cream rises and earns bigger minutes.

Going into the season with two shoot first combos at the point is intriguing.  That's really what Hardy was as the season started.  Don't know enough about Greene to comment.  I don't think the concept of a pass first PG is as concrete as it used to be because the scorers seem to be the ones who are drawing all the NBA attention.  If these guys play together I think they'll all make out. That was last year's theme and it worked.
