Coker
Burrell
Brownlee
Kennedy
Boothe

Hardy, Q Roberts, Evans and Omari.

If Brownlee can add some consistency to his outside shot he is our best play hands down.

im sorry man theres no way i can agree with you. I dont want to sound like an ass but have you ever played basketball at a high level? Omari is a nice player but he is not even close to being a point guard. He can be an off point guard but he doesnt have the ball handling skills, especially under pressure to be a point. He tends to get anxious when under pressure which is the worst thing to do as a point guard. That usualy turns into turnovers. He cant run the "ship." He is just fine playing the 2 or 3. The point is for the maliks

Why would you ask anyone here if they played bball at a high level? What does that have to do with understanding the game?

i know where he is coming from. He didn't mean it in a direct way but when you play the point at a high level, you know the qualifications of a point guard. And when you watch certain players you get more of a feel if they have the qualifications to play at that position maybe than somebody else. He can answer it for himself but that's what i got out of it

I find that the best players are often terrible coaches.
At least, they have been at the college level and NBA level.

Brownlee's a very consistent outside shooter.

I'm just really excited to see how Lavin and staff evaluate the team and how they distribute the minutes.  I really wouldn't be surprised to see Q Rob beat out Boothe & Stith for the PG position.

I also understand the argument that Hardy is electric off the bench...but if he's one of the best 5....I think Lavin starts him.

My early projected starting 5 is

PG. Q Rob
SG. Hardy
SF. Kennedy
PF. Burrell
C. Evans

Boothe, Horne, Lawrence, Brownlee and R Roberts (if he comes will be the main subs) with Stith, Coker and R Thomas filling in when needed!!

Q Rob at the point reminded me of Tarik Turner during his freshman year. He couldn't dribble, pass, move without the ball, or finish anything. Boothe will start over him, but the real question is can Lavin find a guard who can start over both of them?

Brownlee at the three is a horrible idea. He doesn't have the dribble or the outside shot.  He'd NEVER be able to defend the position effecitvely if we weren't in a zone.

I love what he does well...he's awesome on the baseline, his shot-blocking off help D is sensational, and he rebounds very well.  he's a bench sparkplug.  10-20 minutes kinda guy.

Burrell is a 25 mpg guy next year.  Coker is probably about 15-20.  That leaves you with around 40 mins to allocate between Ron Roberts, Brownlee, and Evans.  With foul trouble and injuries, there will be minutes for everyone up front.

exactly, and if Brownlee starts at the three, teams will just pack a zone in because we would only have one acceptable shooter on the floor.

I think this lineup will see a ton of minutes.  I have a feeling Coker starts for us, but he is too foul prone and really can't go more than 15-20 mpg.

I think Omari is the X-factor here.  He doesn't have a glaring weakness like Hardy or Horne.  A lot of his problems this past season were freshman mistakes.  If he can shoot 33% or better from three, he could be the best option. He has the highest ceiling.

One thing that has to happen is to play a normal rotation...... not like the the football team rotation of last year. That's just nuts. Players have to know their roles and what the plan is, etc Pot luck doesn't work.

Quincy Roberts starting PG. Are you nuts? He may have to transfer in reality. There is no one in the 1-3 spots he can beat out. Have to be realistic here. There is no way he gets minutes next year unless there is injury. No doubt about that.

Would he lose a year of eligibility if he transfered?

To answer just win stj; whether i played ball at high level is irrelevant. What's relevant is that I have watched the Gaucho team with Kemba, Truck Bryant ,Omari ,Kevin Parrom, lamont jones, and Durant since they were in 6th Grade. I know what Omari can do. He is a superior ballhandler and can run the point if asked to do. Over the course of hi career he has not had to with the teams that have Kemba , and Truck on them. But when he did play the position he unleashed hell on people. People have very short memories. This kid was the #2 rated palyer in the state behind Lance. All City as a junior. Tom Konchalski that year rated 5 stars to 3 players in NY state that year: Omari,Lance,Kevin Parrom. Espn top 50 recruit. Just because Norm did nothing to develop his talent and confidence people forget.
Even Burrel. Part of his lack of development was the coaching staff's fault.
Anyway, I wasn't an elite player, but I was good and I know ball. And I know he can play the position if developed. a real coach and someone who knows ball can see that. Either way STJ is on there way.

quincy is going to be big for us this coming year. remember his strength and the sweet form on his shot. he was put in a really bad situation when he had to run the point, but playing the 2-3 he will be a monster. if paris could handle the ball that could be the best defensive starting 5 in the big east with

paris

quincy
jb
coker

....ahh to dream
