Why bad mouth Kimani?

I'm not sure why this topic was even started.

Let me save tha kid another boring post. "Because Baldi likes stirring the pot"

If that makes any sense

The guy (Young)  had a pretty shitty year or so.  Starting a thread about his employment, or lack there of, seems a bit distasteful whether stirring the pot or not.  But your getting there Baldi.  Admitting your a shit stirrer is the first step towards being a useful member of society.  ;)

That was not the point of the thread. His name was mentioned as a possible candidate for a job on Pecora's staff and Im wondering why it was a big deal when we hired him or when he didnt return. And Im also not sure why he hasnt landed on job on any of the new local staffs. There sure were plenty to be had

The thread just seemed mean spirited in the way you worded the first post. If you want to compare Kimani to the other NY guys that's cool but just because he has accepted a college position since he left St. John's shouldn't discredit his abilities.

What are his abilities?

Dont you think he would have been hired already? And Im not talking about an assistant varsity HS coaching job.
No, not necessarily. He doesn't have college experience.  Doesn't mean he wasn't a bit of a loss.  If he was here, perhaps St. John's would have gotten Pinkston or Collier.  When he left, Pinkston didn't talk about St. John's very much at all.  That, my friend, is a loss (kind of, assuming he qualifies).

Do you mean short list of people to speak about the kids or short list of guys they can hire to try and get an edge...?
I'm not sure what you're trying to get me to say, PMG!  Schools are always trying to get an edge.  Some want to get an edge with a supposedly NY connected AAU guy (like Book Richardson), others want an assistant coach with more history recruiting the area (like Louisville's Masiello).  Kimani, like Mo Hicks, would be a little more like Book, but he doesn't have the big name yet.  But I believe he had some kids on the New Heights program, and is obviously highly regarded in the city; so either way, he's a guy a school might want to have an in with.

marco maybe he is waiting for the right move. just because wagner or hofstra opens doesnt mean he must jump on it. u have to go where u feel is gonna be the best fit. u never know they may have offered him the same position norm gave him and maybe he feels he is ready for a higher spot.  but it was a big deal because he had 3 players who are going to the pac 10, acc and a mc donalds all american going to a rival. that is pretty impressive. and  if anyone thinks polee is better than pinkston is crazy. javaughn would horse him

I was thinking of bigger jobs than Wagner and Fordham. I actualy dont like Pinkstons game and like Ive said before, if hes eligible-something fishy went down. Do you think any of the players you mentioned would have went to St Johns if Kimani never left the SJU staff?

At least one of the things that made Young an attractive hire two years ago - access to Pinkston - is no longer.

I could rattle off some political cracks.  But I'll simplify it for you, since you didn't get my drift: "so either way, he's a guy a school might want to have an in with."  I'm sorry there were so many words in there.  Next time I'll simply talk about pallin' around with terrorists!

Did we already have an "In" with him though?

Apparently not enough of one.  But I don't think he was hired for his assisting abilities.  He was hired to give Norm access to those players.  It doesn't always work.

This is honestly an embarassing thread, the sole purpose of which is to flame.  I give Baldi a hard time sometimes when he is actually just expressing opinions, but this has a mean spirited tone and is total BS imo.

This is hillarious. You act like its the first time someone got criticized at St Johns for not doing their job. Youve been doing it for years. Deal with it Cindy

Dude, this is clearly mean-spirited and nothing more.  Mo Hicks didnt hasve a college job for 15 years.  Tiny and Naclerio still don't.  So, relatively new on the scene, Kimani Young must be deficient or something if he doesn't already?  You're full of ish.

Exactly.  Baldi, if Dave's even calling you out, you know everyone is seeing right through you.

I don't think Kimani should have ever been given a job at St. John's to begin with because of his criminal record. I have said that for a long time.

That being said, he seems like a genuinely nice guy but I don't understand why so many people think he is this big up & comer in the basketball community. He is an AAU coach that had one REALLY good team, that is it.

If he wants to be a basketball coach, good for him but he has a long way to go before he is remotely qualified to be a high level Div I assistant.

Come to think of it, what did Kimani and Oz Cross bring to the program? Are they such great video coordinators? These guys have gotten a free pass imo because all the focus was on Norm and the assistant coaches. BUt they were hired specifically for their AAU connections and they brought nothing to the table

Blame them for what exactly?  They were administrative assistants.  They provide contacts it was Norm's job to close.  I don't think Kimani wasn't even here for a full year.  Plus his best prospects were class of 2010 when he was no longer with STJ.  Cross got us Omari and Burrell (before he was hired).  Not sure who else he got us involved with.

Time to start a new thread.  Maybe you could help Carmine tout Mr. Patterson?

So they were hired because of their great administrative duties?

Kimani was hired to bring in Pinkston,Collier,Ashton Pankey etc.. None are here

Oz supposedly brought in Burrell(who we stole from perenial powerhouses Hofstra and Drexel)  and Omari, who is not with us anymore
