MCNPA: As to your question concerning Howland. Simply put it's how we do thing at UCLA, yes it would be nice it you came here, but .................Dad seem just a little too involve and UCLA has had those type of dads before mostly in football but I'm sure a few in basketball

I agree with you about Kyles dad being too involved.  It's annoying and the dad's think that they are their kid's agent.  To tell the truth though, on SJU's end, I don't think they will BS KA and tell him he's the next PG, if they don't think it's the case.  Lavin and co will certainly try to sell him on coming here, but they won't make empty promises as evidenced by their recruitment of D'Angelo Harrison and others.  I still do question Howland's wisdom thoug, in bringing in the # 1 and 2 guys on the same visit, if he really wants to land them.  In this day and age playing hard-to-get doesnt work that well.  Howland has not been making as many waves on the recruiting trail lately, so we'll see how his strategy works out ultimately.

It was simply an issue of guys being at EYBL in LA and taking advantage of the visit to Cali to poke around.  Howland had to capitalize on that any way he could.

Kyle Sr. is his AAU coach. He's a good dude, a little crazy at times and Kyle knows that. He certainly knows his hoops and knows his son.

Dad isn't any kind of problem compared to rumor that W. Judge's "advisors" told Gary Williams how they wanted him to run the Terps offense so that it would be best suited for Wally to get to the NBA.  Word was it was one of the things that pushed Gary over the edge...

MCNPA:Howland position on his and UCLA terms.
Howland is doing real well on the transfer trail

Moose: It is not a question of 2 for 1 as parent/agent. It is a question of the parent wanting to be involved to what extent after LOI is signed, sealed and delivered

I'm sure C R Green could provide a list of troublesome parent,

I agree with Dave on this one.  I don't know how Kyle, Sr. conducts himself outside of hoops, but I can only go by what I've seen of him at the Peach Jam.  He seems to conduct himself in a mannerly-like way for the most part.

That is nuts (if, true)!  I would've told Judge and his "advisors" to get the hell outta dodge (although, I wouldn't have used "hell")!  I wouldn't doubt Gary used a couple of choice words or two.  If, Judge wanna get to the NBA then get better.  I bet a situation like that probably helped Gary move on.

MJ  IMHO the best way of handling this type of situation is  to quietly get up from behind your desk and secured any information and leave the office leaving the door open. They'll understand!

I know you don't mean anything by the Dad/Agent thing but for every one who is a pain I'm sure there are two who are looking out for the best interest of their kid.  Who knows their kids best?  Maybe they know that the kid will get his head too high dealing with the media and recruiting sites.  So they put the clamp on it.  I have no problem with Kyle's dad's involvement.

I should have been clearer.  I didn't mean to implicated Kyles dad specifically.  I've just seen sooo much of the father/son stuff like judge's dad, the Harris kids, Kellen Winslow's dad and on down the line to know that often the dads are brokering for the kids position etc. And it is often not helpful.  I dont know anything about Kyle's relationship with his dad nor about Kyles dad himself, I just meant it on a general level.  KA's father might be different.  I am sure Moose, you see a lot of the other side pretty often as well...

Kyle's dad is fine. It's a mistake to lump him in with dad's who want offenses to run through their son or something like that.  He's very intense when he coaches but Kyle would not be playing for Coach Hurley if Coach Hurley was not allowed to coach him. He's really intense when coaching his Playaz team but very approachable once the game ends.

So Mr. Harris or Mr. Polee.  Good to hear.

Didnt Kyle's dad have some words with Harrison after an IS8 game a week or 2 ago ?

Maybe we should worry he doesnt like Harrison so he wont want his son being anywhere near Harrison. LOL

These arguments now over top recruits are much more fun to read than the old ones fighting over whether a top 300 recruit was some undiscovered diamond in the rough

Wanna compare Kyle's game to another taller ball handler in Jack Wolfinger :)

I've witnessed somewhere 30 ejections this spring at AAU games. They blow over pretty quickly, aau ball is just a different beast

Per Zags Tweet:

"2012 Point Guard Kyle Anderson of St. Anthony's will play on the wing instead of the point for the rest of the AAU circuit, per his dad."

Funny thing is Wally has said he was going to the Terps if Gary stayed there!

You have to wonder how this affects his recruiting. Maybe a switch to wing will draw more offers. Possibly UNC or KY? Those schools don't seem to want Kyle as a PG, so maybe this change will drum up some interest.

Just seems strategic.

I actually think keeping him at PG as long as possible enhances his appeal at other positions. Simply letting it be known that he's open to playing other positions would have been sufficient.

it says hes down to his final 5 on rivals dont have the story tho probably the same 5 we saw before but dont know what the article says

Same five and basically same stuff that has been said before:

After being recruited by most every school in the country, Kyle Anderson has narrowed his focus to five schools.

Kyle Anderson has heavy interest in the Big East.
The multi-positional ballhandler and rebounding specialist from Jersey City (N.J.) St. Anthony High School is down to Seton Hall, St. John's, Georgetown, UCLA and Florida.

All five schools are vigorously pursuing Anderson, but he did note to Rivals.com that Seton Hall has done the best job recruiting him out of the five. If Anderson decides to stay close to home, Seton Hall is in a position to pull off a major recruiting coup.

UCLA is also a prominent school on Anderson's list giving the Bruin's a strong chance of landing two top five prospects in the country in Anderson and Shabazz Muhammad.

Florida is scheduled for a visit in early September, so the Gators will have a last chance opportunity to persuade Anderson. He has already visited the four other schools on his list.

The key to landing the 6-foot-8 Anderson will be convincing him that he will play the point guard position and that he will play a style where his unique skill set can flourish.

"The most important thing is figuring out which school will play me at the point," Anderson told Rivals.com. "I'll also look at style of play. I want to have the freedom to push the ball after rebounds and then run sets in the halfcourt if nothing good comes out of the break."
