LAS VEGAS - Nick Johnson gave him a wink, a subtle nod. Jabari Brown saw it. So when Brown threw an alley-oop to Johnson on an out-of-bounds play and Johnson made it a highlight-reel dunk, the Bishop Gorman gym went crazy - for minutes.

Nick Johnson, 6-foot-2, 175 pounds, Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep:

In a semifinal matchup with the New Jersey Playaz, Johnson had a tough time getting any shot to fall. It did not shy him away from staying aggressive nor did he stop working hard.

Johnson is the type of player that works hard on offense, defense and on the glass. All were apparent in the championship game as he was tied for the second leading scorer of the game with 15 points on 6 of 11 shooting, eight assists and four rebounds.

What's a game without a Johnson highlight jam? He put an exclamation mark on the championship with a two-handed dunk through traffic.

And: http://pointguardu.com/cats/showthread.php?t=52871

He didn't indicate any sort of timetable on a decision, and Johnson was quick to mention that although Arizona is the current leader, that doesn't mean another school can't gain ground in his recruitment. Those of you who following recruiting closely know that this is typical of any elite player's recruitment, and that being the current leader doesn't always mean a recruit is even close to making up his mind.

It was a great out-of-bounds play.
On the other court, at the same time, JP Tokoto was a human highlight reel. I tried to sit at the halfway part to catch the action on both courts.

I wonder how many of those kids from Iowa are going to be kiling it in the tournament in a few years.  You know those kids always go off.

“I’ve got an unofficial to ASU next weekend,” Johnson added. “I’m scheduling one with U of A sometime in August.”  In September, Johnson has two officials in mind.  “I take my first official to Louisville Sept. 10,” Johnson said.  (His Soldiers teammate Josiah Turner visits Louisville the weekend before, Sept. 4).   After Louisville, Johnson wants to visit Kansas.  “Then I’m also going to take an official to Kansas, maybe the weekend after (Sept. 17),” he said.

Johnson is uncertain what will happen after that.“I just want to take one this weekend and see what’s going on with the rest,” he said. “Maybe set a few more. If not, these could be my final four.”

Maybe, we are able to get an official.  Who knows!?!

USA West guard Nick Johnson of Henderson (Nev.) Findlay Prep was the main roadblock standing in the way of All-Asia's first win. Johnson shredded All-Asia off the dribble when he wasn't lighting them up from long range (4-for-8) or throwing down a reverse dunk in traffic en route to a tournament-high 32 points. The Phoenix native has unofficial visits to Arizona and Arizona State scheduled later this month along with official trips to Louisville and Kansas slated later in the fall but is keeping his three other official visits flexible for the time being. "I don't want to play my hand yet," Johnson said. "I want to see how these [recruiting visits] go first."

Is that definate?
The day earlier he 'wasn't playing his hand'.
Wouldn't he take the 5 visits just to take them since they don't cost him anything?

I was holding out hope, but I no longer had a good feeling about Johnson after the Zags article on last week.  Maybe, he's ready to get over with and announce his destination prior to the early signing period.

Dave - I know what the posts says but currently I get an error - it happens sometimes with the Tweet function.  Nick Johnson's top 4 are AZ, AZ State, Louisville and Kansas.

I wish him well. I think he could be their best guard since Mike Bibby. Hopefully the plethora of guards means it will scare other guys east.

I have no clue of their scholarship situation but I wonder what this means for Quinn Cook and Jahii Carson.
