ESPNU 100 SG Tyler Harris had a good visit and meeting with Coach Jim Calhoun at UCONN

Where Harris heard Calhoun blow smoke up his arse, I'm sure, about being a lynchpin, going to the NBA, and how St. John's would struggle with all the youth.  And how the sanctions won't affect U Conn.  In other words, variations of "truth."

Two to three years from now his other son will be loaded, so daddy would have to be an idiot to even sniff around for cash.

Also, I thought his dad did well for himself.  A clothing line or something?  They live in Dix Hills near Norm, I believe it was said.

I'm kind of surprised we are still in the mix after the Sampson verbal.  I'd still love to either and Dominick Pointer or Amir Garret, as I see them being better complements to Harkless and Sampson, but Harris would be able to provide good depth at a few positions. 

My guess is Lavin is selling Harris and his father on the up-and-down style that lends itself to nobody really playing more than 25 mpg--the type of game that a lengthy, athletic forward could excel in.

“They offered him,” Torrel said. “If he goes to Louisville and he likes Louisville, they’re taking his commitment.”

Interesting.  Is Pitino trying to get a good player?  or is he hedging his bets about Quincy Miller (or does he know Miller's not coming)?  (Does Tyler want to hang out on the bench for a year or two?)

In a related development, 6-8 Tyler Harris of St. Benedict’s Prep is no longer considering Louisville and is down to N.C. State, Providence, Iowa and St. John’s.

He has an official this weekend to N.C. State and heads to Providence Oct. 15. Harris already visited Iowa and still has to visit St. John’s.

“We have our top four schools, Iowa, Providence, St. John’s and N.C. State, which we are taking an official to Friday,” Torrel Harris said.

“Louisville is a school that you have to consider because Coach Pitino is a good coach but nothing was going to happen until we sat down with Coach P. By getting a commitment from Angel, who has lots of potential, and with the addition of the players at Tyler’s position, I don’t think we would further consider Louisville.”

So if he doesn't want to go to Louisville because of Angel Nunez why is he considering us with Maurice Harkless and JaKarr Sampson?

He could play PF here, and the cards have a LOT of guys in the frontcourt (Buckles, Swopshire, jennings, plus the new guys, Behanan and Price).
