Forum Home Page- What would you like to see?

I have been tweaking with this past 2 days...Getting a bit more familiar with things. I've added a few things...

-Twitter Feed

-Facebook Activity anytime someone mentions JohnnyJungle.com on facebook you'll see

-Facebook Wall so you can post with your facebook account on the forum here.

-Stat Sheet Embedded Charts

-Scholarship Table

-Big East Standings

I think for now, the scholarship table is good, maybe links to recruiting pages that are being built.

Possibly a table of contents of what is on the front page?  That way, it's hard to miss the schollie table if it's on the bottom - it's currently below the proverbial "fold", after tweets.

I like the index on the forum home like it used to be. Replace schollie table w that, or put schollie table below.

I have it default when you log into the forum it goes to the old home page. However the new home page will offer a lot of practicality or thats what I'm aiming for. 1 stop shop so to speak.

You asked what we'd like to see on the new forum home page, my answer is the index. I'm just one voice, but I think that is a must on the home page of any forum.

I suppose "Tits of the Day" is out of the question.

Only if they're bouncing gifs.

Tha Kid has a point, though.  I liked going straight to the index page - but as Dave said, that's accessible, just a different site to save (I have it saved on my computers, along with the main home page).  But for the home page to work, I think it needs a little more.  Like the top should be a short section to links to the Johnny Jungle articles.

Maybe a little like State Fans Nation: http://www.statefansnation.com/, but with 2-3 lines of each recent article?

Thinking on it more, I think the video on the front page takes up too much space, as does the space devoted to the Twitter area.  Maybe that can be half the column, or at least less vertical space. 

And I think tweets are more informative to those who come here than Facebook, at least so far; maybe less Facebook space as well.  Again, some linked index with page anchors or just a description on the top to tell you what all is on the page (including below the fold) might be useful.

Not to be an old curmudgeon, but I mean I don't understand why "recent forum posts" would be of higher priority than "forum index."  Sure during the summer all you need is recent posts, but in the midst of the season so many threads are going on at once, I like immediately being able to see which THREADS have new posts, not just which posts are newest.  And despite probably sounding elitist, I prefer seeing the creator of the thread rather than the newest post.  We're getting lots of new posters and I'm more likely to read "Remi Barry news" thread created by Dave, then go to "Remi Barry news" thread - latest post by Redmen4Eva, etc.  So if no index, I suggest listing the threads with the newst posts listing by original poster, not most recent poster.

Yes - sure, I can acess this.  But I think what needs to be remembered is that this is a FORUM first and foremost.  Not having the index on the forum home page is departing far too much from the roots of the FORUM, IMO.  As much as I post, I often just do a quick look at work to see if anything piques my interest.

I guess my point is i LIKE the concept of a home page with LOTS going on.  So I don't want to go to the OLD home page w the index, I think the NEW home page would be that much better, if it has all this extra cool stuff, PLUS the index.  To be honest, the scholarship table is probably better off on another page...all of us that go to the forum, I think, have a really good idea of what the schollie situation is.  Just my thoughts, great job as always Dave.

Also - is anyone else having problem with bugs when going to posts?  This is the only site that causes me problems at work and I don't know why.

We used to do Implants of the Month at theweasels.com. It was a hugely popular feature, at least until Sally Kirkland contracted lupus. We used a rollover to close up view rather than animated gifs, which I consider declasse.

Baldi has a nice set of juggs. How soon you forget kid! You were doing  shots off my nips
