From Tharpe's Twitter and I think from someone's recollection, he really likes New York City.  I could just be making that up, so anyone w/ a confirm, let me know...

(Of course, you don't want a recruit who likes the city so much they stop working on their game to hit the clubs.)

I think you might be mistaking him with Pelle.
Nope. He was talking about NY last night.

I understand that.  Naadir spent the weekend visiting friends in NY and NJ, but I've never seen anything about him "really liking New York City."  Someone recently posted that Pelle really liked NYC.

Just saying, I'm not mistaking him with Pelle. I remember reading that Pelle likes NY - in one of the Rivals articles.

Doesn't really matter; Tharpe obviously likes to party/ hang out in NY despite not being from here, and we can only hope that's a strong draw for him in choosing his college.  Minneapolis is kind of fun, but so cold for so long and hard to get around w/out a ride. And Boston... if he likes dudes puking on him on the T or over-smart hipster parties, that could be the place.  But New York is much more fun.

Lol. BTW, his current school, Brewster, is, as you probably can imagine, is isolated and absolutely freezing for much of their school year. MCI and Bridgton (a theoretically one-year school) also have the same issues.

Is it just me or does it seem Kansas is getting desperate. They haven't landed any kids for 2011 and now all of a sudden they are going after Tharpe, Garrett, etc late in the game. It's not like they are going after bad players but they are starting to go after these kids late in the process it seems. Did they miss out on a lot of top recruits?

They have been on Garrett for awhile.  Tharpe is a different story.

There is no shortage of visitors to Brewster (N.H.) Academy to watch senior point guard Naadir Tharpe.

“Oklahoma has offered,” Brewster coach Jason Smith said. “Coach [Jeff] Capel will be here today [Monday]. Kansas is involved and Coach [Bill] Self] will be here on Thursday. UCLA and Villanova have been in contact, too. St. John’s is still a school Naadir is interested in.”

N.C. State has also offered.

Tharpe has only visited Minnesota, but both Oklahoma and Kansas want him to trip there.

“Nothing has been set up,” Smith said. “However, both have asked about him taking an official.”

Brewster coach Jason Smith told me that Kansas coach Bill Self isn't coming to see Naadir Tharpe today; plan is for him to come Monday.

Per Zagsblog....

Brewster coach Jason Smith says Kansas & N.C. State will be in Monday to see point guard Naadir Tharpe. St. John’s is also coming in this week, possibly UCLA.

Thats a good look for Tharpe. Happy for him. He wasn't going to come here as Lindsey is the priority. I also think that the staff feels Stith and Lindsey (with Harrison spilling min at PG too) is more than enough. 2012 also offers a fair amount of PGs who would see more time after their freshman year with Stith graduating.
