who recruited those players?  EX: Lindsey, Pelle etc.?  See what I'm saying.  What are you defending?  You can't defend Lavin here if Lavin recruited them.  I too like Lavin, but he has to take a hit here, because these are HIS recruits that didn't project or blend in here at St. John's.

We cannot afford another year of this losing this recruit and this player on & on & on & on..., NOT ONE MORE and Lavin better start lamding some players AND HOLDING ON TO THEM.  We're 4 or 5 players short for next year.

I see what you're saying, but unfortunately for you it's not much of nothing.  Sorry, dude.  There were other prominent programs recruiting (and offered) Lindsey and Pelle.  He took some chances because he had to reload an entire roster.  He had to get an entire team.  He wanted to replenish this roster with solid recruits.  For the most part, you consistently win in this conference, and on a national scale, with solid players.

Once again, there is one more recruiting period and none of the players he's targeting have signed elsewhere.  If they do, then you have every right to complain.  Otherwise, you're just making yourself look like what I think you are....  a whiner.

Oh!  What are you gonna do, if Lavin doesn't land those players and not hold onto them?  Are you gonna stalk him?

I'm sorry, but what perennial dreamers on this board.  All I read is how we'll end up signing this guy and that guy etc. etc., and through that same period of time/3 months and in reality we lost half our team to either academic casualties or transfers and/or decommitments.

I like Steve Lavin and I feel very bad for him and his current battle with cancer, and I think he's a good recruiter and very decent classy man, but this program is in big trouble right now yet again as if the majority of past 10 very underwhelming years wasn't bad enough.  This program still lacks a true dominant Center and has for a long long time, and we're currently short (5) scholarship players.  Syracuse just beat us for what seems like the 1,000th straight time now.  God forbid if we ever stuck it to that creep Boeheim even once, that would be long overdue and justified, but NO.  Forget this season, this season is long gone already and if Lavin doesn't start righting the ship fast and start landing some new recruits and start holding on to the ones that he lands than next season is going to be over with fast as well and Lavin will unfortunately begin to be on the hot-seat.

I would ask how many teams in college basketball have a true center but we'll start small. How many teams in the Big East have a true center?

Unrelated to that true positions in the game now are fading. There are so many combo/hybrid players out there and thats where the game is moving.

You see what I mean, here we go defending mediocrity again, the above is yet another example of that.

How many NCAA Tournamet victories does St. John's have in the past 10+ years compared to those other teams?  [ZERO?]  It's a disgrace, and poor legendary Joe Lapchick must be rolling over watching it year after year.  We owe it to him to FINALLY turn it around if not ourselves!  :-[

Can we beat Syracuse and/or Villanova and demolish them the way they continuously demolish us is EVEN ONE TIME!  God forbid that happened even once, that would be fair and long over-due.  We've becoming a losing culture that defends losing instead of staring ourselves in the mirror, recognizing a losing product and FINALLY doing the things that are necessary to change it and NOT recruiting borderline very risky academic recruits is a strart.  We can do better than that, anything is better than NOTHING AT ALL IN THE END.

Let's not turn this is me vs you thing. Guys can share their opinions. Whining about whining or complaining about complaining is just as bad and triggers more whining and complaining. Make sense?

He thinks St. John's needs a true center and high quality academic players. That's not unfair to say. To a degree who can really argue with that?

I personally think it's unrealistic to grab 9 ivy league scholars with NBA talent in your first recruiting class but apparently some think thats possible. It's hard playing catchup on the mid major level recruiting and it's even more difficult at the highest of high major level of recruiting. This staff is leaps and bounds ahead of the average curve and the talent brought in might be best ever for St. John's.

I think the quality of character that is on this team is tremendous. I'd be more than happy to sit in a trench with those kids. Sometimes things don't work out with some kids for a number of reasons. It happens. Move on. I'm not even sure why people are even posting about Pelle anymore.

I, applaud what you do with your board, Dave....  Sometimes, it doesn't take long for one's radar to go up in the air, if you know what I mean.  Even, moreso, if you know the history of the poster (a few others know who he is, as well).  IMO, until these kids sign elsewhere then it's nothing more than whining and complaining.  If, these kids sign elsewhere then he has every right to complain.  Otherwise, what's the purpose?

I don't mind different opinions.  I have no problem with it whatsoever.  There are other times you know exactly what you're dealing with, if you know what I mean.

Oh gee great, I had forgot about that.  So I guess we can lose to them 8 times in a row now.

The only thing I can't blame Lavin for is the conference falling apart which has hurt our recruiting too (imo).

This stuff is so DEPRESSING.

That's why I left the boards for probably three years.

I feel bad for Lavin, the current players, and hell even the decommits, and the ineligible players.

Lavin stepped into a nice senior laden team that he was able to get on the path to playing to their strengths and a magical run by Hardy.

I have never seen a program graduate 10 kids at one time. Roberts was let go when he was because of the fact that he would have signed their replacements with the next class IMHO.

We need to support the team and stop being so critical. If we go through the spring signing period with no one signed then I will start worrying. I hear otherwise in regards to who will be on board when LOI s are signed.

Yes, it is depressing, tr.  I'm all for critiquing and citing issues.  But, some of these folks (there aren't many, but just enough) are clearly over-the-top.  One of my friends said, he never goes to the message boards.  He gets his fix and info (either from me or others) elsewhere.

I'm sure your reasons for staying away are the same as his now.

"DEPRESSING"? yes it is, but it's also REALITY isn't it, and stop running way from it.  Handle it by discussing what is needed to possibly and hopefully FINALLY change it.  Pretending it doesn't exist won't cut the mustard or do anything to make it better because all that will do is prolong it.  EX:  "Show me a gracious loser and I'll show you a Busboy".  "You are what your record says you are", and what has St. John's record in basketball been the past 10+ years?  Do you want to puke about the reality of it now or later if your strong enough to look at it straight in the eye as depressing as it is?

Who's running? I said I'll worry when we go the spring by not signing anyone. UCONN added Daniels and Drummond in Aug and Sept I think. This team would have only been slightly better with Pelle and Sampson. This year was a learning year anyway. No one is running.

These Freshmen have played their hearts out, it's not their fault at all.  They need a lot of help.  They don't have a chance in heaven to SUSTAIN WINNING right now.  They lack depth, experience, overall size on & on & on...  They'll play one great game and exhorst all their energy and have nothing left for the next three games.

There's a reason why we keep losing basically year after year, and that's because we're just not good enough.  There's also a reason why Syracuse keeps winning, because they're always loaded with talent comparted to us.

Do you not see the vast difference between where we were pre-Lavin and where we are headed now? If we get two of the big men we are pursuing and a decent guard, we are going to be a scary team. What will you complain about then? Boo hoo, Obekpa only averaged 2.7 bpg as a freshman for us and not 5. Boo hoo, Syracuse big men are better. Boo hoo, if Dunlap's wife would be more willing to polish some helmets we'd be able to get better players. We get it, you're a douche bag. But at least try to be a douche bag who makes sense.

My prediction is that you will simply disappear like all the other posters who lived to type nonsense just for the sake of starting shit. Where are red dot and Q in Yonkers anyway?

I don't care about a posters history on other websites, I don't have a radar on anyone, nor do I want you or anyone else being a vigilante moderator. I've asked you numerous times to not go out of your way to defend the board/program. I understand you have tremendous pride and appreciate that but when you do that it only causes more problems.

Do you see how far off topic this has gotten? So one person has an extreme opinion. So what? Why waste your time and more so everyone elses going back and forth clogging up a thread. If you want to do that then go to another website. This is my last time asking. If you have anything to respond to this message do it via PM.

Really? C'mon you were on point till mentioning medical products :knuppel2:

It's a scientific term, isn't it?  ;D

My apologies. It just pisses me off that people can't wait until spring before getting off the bandwagon. Next season if we have the same roster, plus three guys from Northport High School, then you can complain. But jeez, let the staff do its thing.
