Amir is going to be one of my favorite Johnnies and Moe is right after him. I can't wait to see both on campus and obviously Moe first

It has to be Jakarr because no one else has decomitted. Amir and Norvel seem to both be trying to qualify and come back while Jakarr has just totally opened back up. If he wanted to come here a few weeks ago why would the fact that he didn't qualify change his mind, he has no one to blame but himself SJU didn't do this to him.

Well, Norvel openly saying he is looking into SDSU is not a good sign for us. Looks like he will decommit fairly soon.

Just read a Tweet that says he is back on the market.dont know if its true. Why would he say he didnt decommit then shortly after say the opposite? But then again thats what Sampson did.

Norvel is a flake.  De-commit one day and a few hours later SDSU is already on the radar??  Would have loved both Jakarr and Pelle here, but it is their own fault they aren't and now looking for other options.  Some reason Pelle strikes me as a kid that might never make it on a college bball court.  Oh well...

That is good news.

I agree - I think this is good news to hear this from Norvel and his sister...Norvel is going to be a difference maker whether it's in December or next year....We have a huge hole at C so he'd get plenty of minutes developing under an NBA level staff, playing in the media capital of the world in NYC, at MSG and in one of the best basketball conferences in America

Seems like a no brainer to me

Here we go over analyzing tweets again  :)

Probably just a general statement of life, after all Mo did decommitt from UConn

I believe these young men have the right to decommit and open up their recruitment if they see fit. Its life and they have to do what is best for them, not STJ. We should all respect that right as men. That being said, I want them all here, especially Pelle, and I don't believe the landscape of STJ basketball has changed. What was once attractive for these recruits in 2011, remains the same for 2012. If Lavin still want these recruits on the team, he just needs to recruit them. I believe outside of Sampson (because of the Gathers commitment), these recruits are ours to lose.

What is the point of signing an LOI if you don't have to honor it?

I agree with you. These kids didn't handle their end of the bargain and now we are feeling the effects of it. It makes no sense at all why these kids would be all excited to be here then because of their own mistakes all of a sudden look elsewhere. They should all make their best effort to be here in December and if not come in the fall. I know loyalty is a fleeting thing these days in athletics but man it would be nice after all the effort Lavin and Co put in with these kids for them to show a little loyalty to SJU.

Their LOI was for 2011, not 2012. These kids tried their best to become eligible, it just didn't work out. Until they sign a LOI with another team, lets hold off on the tar and feathers.

They tried their best? How on earth do we know that?

Whats the point of coaches signin a contract if they can leave fo another school?

Two way street.

Parking only for NYCHA permit holders.

But choz, coaches do have to honor it unless the other potential suitor or the coach can meet the buyout clause.  But similar to LOI, if there a change in status at the SCHOOL such as coaching change or other unforeseen circumstance thrust upon the student athlete, the schools will release them of their LOI.  However, for student athletes, it usually is the ill family member type situation where schools will release a player.

That being said, I'm not advocating one side or the other.  However, I am a believer in the biggest of recruits NEVER signing an early LOI.  The LOI is not an immediate requirement.  This helps some players out when the unexpected happens (coach is fired at the end of the season), and now they do not need to have the schools honor a release.  Sometimes they don't want to - we saw how Arkansas started to botch the transfer request of Clarke, but realized the bad press was hurting them.

Your NLI is null and void if you fail to qualify.

That's why we've heard nothing from admin or AD, etc. - the student-athlete becomes a recruit again.  Does that mean the staff has to follow compliance rules all over again too?  So no contact with the players unless it's under the guidelines?  If so, that means the staff (or any school for that matter) can only speak with Norvel, Amir and JaKarr as recruits through the October 5th contact period?
