guys let these kids go. come on. he wasn't built to be here. we have to move on. i love talking basketball like the rest of u. but this shit is now looking like the girl who went out on a date with a guy. the guy liked her but for some reason he decided not to mess with her. and now she keeps calling him and emailing him and looking at him through his house window while sitting in her tinted car with binoculars. #$%^ them in lavin I trust. he will get someone of equal or greater value. if they dint want to be part of this program good #$%^ing bye. WE ARE NEW YORKERS DAMNIT WE ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO CARE ABOUT SHIT LIKE THIS. on to the next one. and the one after that.

I think a lot of other posters are holding out hope for him because they haven't heard many new names.  And the staff of course won't come out and just say they are moving on.

I agree with you though.
Remember who broke the Slice news

I agree Moose and KOB too but centers like him don't grow on trees. He is exactly what the program needs.

forget the "we are new yorkers"...

st john's basketball is the abused housewife who finally found mister right.  then from kennedy's knee to the health problems to the big east breakup to players decommitting to three ineligibles to losing to mid major dregs, everything seems to be going south again.

so when mr right scrapes the paint off the wall with his fingernails while taking a leak and the housewife finds the penicillin she still believes the needles are for his cold.

it's the result of ten years of desperation.

we want to believe it's a cold if you catch my drift.

In the big picture, things aren't that bad, we have a head coach with a proven track record, a nice cast of assistants, better facilities, better basketball budget, and the desire to be big time.

We have taken our lumps since Kennedy went down, Polee transferring, the weird recruitment of Harrow and Anderson, the ineligible players, the decommitments, the losses, the Big East issues, and of course Lavin's health concerns.

In the old days, we would not have known as much as we do now.

We probably got knocked back with our rebuilding plan by about a year assuming Lavin can get this ball moving again . First and foremost we need him healthy and have his tireless work ethic back.

I noticed a very important thing at the Kentucky and Detroit games, not having Lavin and his personality on the sidelines impacts the players and the refs. Dunlap is a great coach but is better suited to draw up the strategy for the games.

I'm not giving up and back to teh topic at hand, I would welcome back Norvel in a heartbeat, if he wants to play he is an extremely unique talent.

They need to move on...if he comes back great but there have been way too many players showing that they really don't want to be here.

Strangely, I believe that Norvel really wants to be here. I believe he's frustrated because he's not totally sure he can get here due to various reasons he's currently encountering.  that being said, he's going to have to S or get off the potty (don't want misinterpretations by anyone).  If he takes full charge of his life, he'll find a way to make it happen.  Personally, I think he's a young man who means well, but gets distracted with the world around him, and keeps him from focusing on what's impt. Twitter is a perfect example.  It should be a tool, not a crutch.  That being said, I see him struggling the rest of this year and still not having his grades up to snuff.  Then totally freaking out as he gives up on D1....

How much more can possibly be said to this guy to persuade him to come to St Johns? Is it time to move on or what?

He's off the radar for St Johns. It appears that he doesn't even want to finish the year At Phelps.

It definitely seems that way. At least if anyone on the SDSU or UNLV boards who claim to have info are correct. They are saying that he is going to go to UNLV because of the conference change by SDSU. But who knows if these guys are just making up info. Hopefully we are still in the mix but I do not feel to confident about it.

A bigger problem than him failing to qualify is that he's immature and wishy-washy. Wish I could have seen him here because his potential is off the charts, but UNLV is probably a good spot for him if he can ever get eligible.

As rumors swirled around a few weeks back about Norvel Pelle heading to UNLV, it looks like the 2012 center will not end up in Vegas.

I guess he'll end up at San Diego State.

I would assume this has something to do with Khem Birch committing to UNLV

It sounds like it may be UNLV backing off. They have one scholarship available and are in the running for Shabazz and Bennett.

If Pelle looks like he'll clear with academics, it would be wise for him to re-up with SJU right away.  My gut tells me that Gathers, Obekpa, and Pelle are all leaning in our direction, especially with Branch on board and with our young team developing as it is.  Pelle may want to avoid another UNLV situation.  SJU has shown him nothing but love at this point, stuck with him.  SDSU just can't compare to his opportunity at SJU.

i think our coaching staff has waivered off Pelle.  we have more important priorities.  besides, just seeing his attitude on twitter, it seems like he's not emotionally mature just yet.  if he's going to play ball it needs to be near his home.

Let him walk on

Or perhaps let him walk to us.  In other words, if he truly wants to re-up his commitment, he needs to show us he's committed to doing what it takes to play CBB at SJU.
