forget the "we are new yorkers"...
st john's basketball is the abused housewife who finally found mister right. then from kennedy's knee to the health problems to the big east breakup to players decommitting to three ineligibles to losing to mid major dregs, everything seems to be going south again.
so when mr right scrapes the paint off the wall with his fingernails while taking a leak and the housewife finds the penicillin she still believes the needles are for his cold.
it's the result of ten years of desperation.
we want to believe it's a cold if you catch my drift.
In the big picture, things aren't that bad, we have a head coach with a proven track record, a nice cast of assistants, better facilities, better basketball budget, and the desire to be big time.
We have taken our lumps since Kennedy went down, Polee transferring, the weird recruitment of Harrow and Anderson, the ineligible players, the decommitments, the losses, the Big East issues, and of course Lavin's health concerns.
In the old days, we would not have known as much as we do now.
We probably got knocked back with our rebuilding plan by about a year assuming Lavin can get this ball moving again . First and foremost we need him healthy and have his tireless work ethic back.
I noticed a very important thing at the Kentucky and Detroit games, not having Lavin and his personality on the sidelines impacts the players and the refs. Dunlap is a great coach but is better suited to draw up the strategy for the games.
I'm not giving up and back to teh topic at hand, I would welcome back Norvel in a heartbeat, if he wants to play he is an extremely unique talent.
