Nurideen Lindsey at SJU's camp today.  Reporting to school. His twitter pic has him in front of his SJU locker as well.  Guess he's qualified and ready to go it seems.  Other recruits are done with summer session and most heading home for a week before heading back to SJU.  Hopefully all finished up their classes at Rise without a hitch.

Sounds good, MCN!  Looking forward to everyone being eligible and ready to roll!

Like I said Mj, I'm assuming eligibility.  Don't think he'd be heading to school and sitting in front of his locker if he was waiting to hear something or finish something.

I agree, MCN.  I was referring to the kids at Rise being eligible.

I was bored so I just checked out his Facebook wall and I have to say that looking at his posts Nuri seems like a real class act and will be a great representative of the school. Real impressive stuff

He is a real humble young man and you can already see all the high school kids lokking up to him like a big brother

This is a little old but this guy seems to follow the  pro-am leagues that Nuri plays in. He says he scored 62 in a pro am game a few weeks ago. Not much info on him over the summer so its good to see hes a point machine. I believe it was the Rankin Anderson League

lewis (black magic) lloyd - philly legend
former overbrook star nurideen lindsey dropped 62 points tonight in a pro am league!!

Not much info about who was playing but I know they do get some pretty good pros in this league.

there appears to be this mythology surrounding Nuri and his impending greatness. Has anyone seen him play or know someone who they respect that has witnessed him live? Just curious.

I haven't seen him play, and there is really no video of him other than the work out video. All we have is the random write ups about him scoring a crap load of points in a tournament with some pro players that he has been playing in since 2008. I am crazy curious about this guy, and I cant wait to see if he is as advertised. I really think he will be.

THE SLEEPER

Nurideen Lindsey, G, Redlands Community College Cougars
 Top 100 Rank: 79
Lindsey is part of Steve Lavin's elite St. John's recruiting class for the 2011-12 season. But a number of NBA scouts are wondering whether Lindsey, who's already 20, will ever make it to New York. A number of top scouts told me that they have Lindsey projected as a solid second-round pick should he declare for the draft. A few scouts have him in the first round.

Who is he? Lindsey is a super athletic, lightning-quick guard who draws comparisons by some scouts to a poor man's Iverson and Monta Ellis. Lindsey is an elite scorer who uses quickness and explosiveness to get to the basket. Lindsey averaged 38 ppg as a junior in high school, and at Redlands Community College he scored 48 points in his first game.

He dropped out of school his senior year -- ending a verbal commitment to La Salle and didn't play for the next two years until the death of his best friend and his younger brother in 2009 pushed him to decide to do something with his talents.

Lindsey is dominating at the community college level, but can he do the same thing in the NBA? Some scouts worry that he's undersized for his position, that he doesn't have a jump shot, that he hasn't played great competition for three years and that his off-court problems might scare teams away. But others say he's awesome: "I haven't seen a kid with his quickness and scoring ability in a while," one NBA scouts told ESPN.com. "It's not easy to gauge given the competition, but I know fast, and he's fast. And I know scorers, and he can score in any league."

Nurideen "X-Factor" Lindsey.  We simply don't know.  JC All American and purported NBA pick out of JC that not many have seen.  His numbers are fantastic as is his height and supposed athleticism.  He can be the difference between a season that we struggle and one where we really make a run with our young talent.  Kid has swagger and confidence though, which I like.  This season is going to be the most exciting season I've been around for, because it is surrounded by intrigue and the unknown.  More talent than ever and more question marks than ever.  I'm hoping Nuri is that guy that everybody is sleeping on, yet is a killer on the court.

He is definitely NOT super athletic...the comparisons to Ellis are joke IMO.  I guess I can see very quick...there is just something he does that makes it so easy for him to get by his man...and honestly the kid I saw guarding him was a good defender. At least we can stop bearing about this one and done crap in a few months

But we've barely seen Nuri play - just that one JUCO game. Scouts do seem to like him; could they be that far off? Are they working from rumors, or have they seen him play in competitive environments? How is it that a Philly city kid was recruited to LaSalle but now has fringe NBA talk around him?

I can't wait for these questions to be answered.
