Road to the Big East Tourney
« on: February 05, 2008, 10:51:42 PM »
I wanted to start a thread of to dedicate watching not only St. John's chances but everyone who is making the tourney because the race is tight. The difference between the #12 team and the #7 team is 1 game.

Georgetown #6   9-1   -   19-2
Notre Dame #21   6-2   2   16-4
Louisville   7-3   2   17-6
Connecticut #19   6-3   2½   16-5
Marquette #16   6-4   3   16-5
Syracuse   6-4   3   16-7
Pittsburgh #25   5-4   3½   17-5
West Virginia   5-4   3½   16-6
Seton Hall   5-4   3½   15-7
Cincinnati   5-5   4   10-12
Providence   4-6   5   13-9
DePaul   4-6   5   9-13
Villanova   3-6   5½   13-8
St. John's   2-7   6½   8-12
Rutgers   2-8   7   10-13
South Florida   1-9   8   10-13

Depaul lost to Providence tonight which hurts the Johnnies because if Depaul would have lost it would have been easier for St. John's to get to that 12th seed with PC only having 3 wins but both now stand at 4-6. The Johnnies schedule is favorable to climbing in the standings however St. John's needs to win our more or less and get help.

The ROAD TO THE BIG EAST TOURNAMENT is a DEAD END street...

Norm drove the team bus into a brick wall this year...

I'd be happier if we made it as opposed to not making it.

Update Scoreboard Watch

Saturday

St. John's vs PC

PC has 4 wins and St. John's has 3 wins obviously need this game.

Seton Hall (5-5) vs Villanova (3-6)
Lets go Seton Hall at this point we still have to play both of these schools but we have to root for the higher team in the standings at this point.

Cincinnati (5-5) vs Rutgers (2-8)
Lets go Rutgers pull the higher guys down and plus we still have to play Cincy one more time.

USF(1-9) vs DePaul(4-7)
That DePaul loss is really going to haunt us but hopefully Gransberry doesn't get neutralized by Mac and big daddy Green.

By no means would making the tourney make our season a success but a little less disappointing than not getting in.  When does it go to all 16 teams getting in?

St. John's moves ahead of PC huge tiebreaker advantage as they both have 4 wins.

Lets see if USF and SHU can help us out

our upcoming schedule is pretty tough though.  that depaul lose really killed us..  we will have to go

at cincy W
nova  W
marq L
at duke L
at georgetown L
seton hall W
at nd L
WV W

to really secure a spot.  i'm not really sure how we will do versus SH, WV, NOVA, and CINCY

i think 7 wins gets us in depending on who we beat(tiebreakers)....so we have a ways  to go...unfortunately USF couldnt take down Depaul today.   Like 423 said that Depaul loss will probably come back to haunt us.

7 wins is undefeated in big east play with the games left

USF BLEWWWWW IT. They were up 11 at half time and just collapsed from the start of the 2nd half and lost by 8.

Rutgers is currently beating Cincy 22-19 in the 1st half about 4 min to go.

Nova up 1 on SHU in the first half

it gets worse as Nova beat SHU by 2. So the plot thickens....St. John's road just got a lot tougher.
