Back when we were specualating about coaches that would replace Norm, all of my choices were succesfull mid level coaches becuase I did not feel we would be able to recruit on a national level any longer after being irrelevant for so long. I figured we needed a good game coach who could recruit second tier talen to fit his system. Guess I was wrong!

Best part of the article is the part about Harrison "knowing where the basket is". This was the single biggest problem with the team during the Norm era. I do not feel the team knew where the basket actually was. Maybe Norm should have handed out map quest directions or something? Judging by Avery Patterson, Geno and many others's awful percentages they clearly had the wrong direction to the basket.

You are consistently wrong, except for the Iona fat girl points which are true.  ;)

Actually I was bored the other day and was looking through the archives of the site formally known as BEB when I came across a thread about possible Norm replacements from like 2 years ago where you threw out Lavin's name. See if you didn't spend so much type posting nonsense you might have remembered that thread and you could have taken credit for this. On the other site people are giving props to Moose, but on BEB and this site I do not remember anyone else besides you calling for Lavin. Good job, too bad you didn't remember the post .

From Paul Biancardi...THere is a 3 paragraph evaluation of this kid's game that will get you real excited.  Basically, there is nothing he cant do offensively.  Defense is a weakness, but that can be improved upon.  My favorite quote from the Article:

"...there is no question he projects to be a double-figure scorer early in his career. During games there will be many possessions on which the offense has nothing going until Harrison makes a shot or puts up points quickly because he has the talent to carry St. John's to a win."

We havent had that since Hatten...

Avery "3-point record holder" Patterson 'knew where the basket was' from downtown 72 times in his all too brief, meteoric stint with the Johnnies.  That's more 3's then any other Redmen ever has or ever will hit.

Your boy Michigan couldn't carry his jock.

He shot 35% not even map quest could have saved him. He was def confused on the basket's location.

Yea but it took him 220 shots to make 72 threes.  That is less than 33%.  Not very efficient.  I'm trying to remember, did he do anything else besides make 72 threes?  Like play defense, shoot anything but three pointers or get to the line.

Willie Shaw made 71 in 30 fewer attempts.

Don't bother mentioning this to CA, facts confuse him.

I remember, I just dont need to blow my own horn. Years ago(2004?), Lavin was doing the Jimmy V classic at the Garden, sitting with Digger Phelps and I yelled at him that St Johns need a coach. That got a smirk out of him, but maybe Digger thought I was talking to him. Think it was Wake Forrset vs Cuse, CHris Paul was still playing

the irony is moose refused to talk to me because he was so pro norm and i wasn't.  he was one of the very last of the norm holdouts.  i started the lavin thread on redmen.com after reading the suggestion here from a poster (rabinowitz??).

of course, none of us can take credit for lavin coming.  that's all mike repole.

What are you talking about the last holdouts?  You have me mistaken.  The last 2 yrs I was against Norm like nobody else.  I won a lot of money betting vs. STJ because I knew we would lose.  I'm willing to even go half a year before that.  If 3 1/2 years is too much time then we have to agree to disagree but last holdout I don't think so.

People are giving me props because I mentioned him when Jarvis was fired.  Before Norm.  I've been a Lavin fan since way back when.

I wasn't questioning you, just stating that other than Baldi, I do not remember anyone else here or on BEB calling for Lavin. Until the last year or so I didn't post on or read REDMEN.com as much. Funny how now even before he coached his first game he seems like a perfect fit but for the most part went unnoticed by the many genuises(yours truly included) on these boards yet seemingly everyone from Bobby Knight to the Cookie Monster was thrown out as a potential candidate.

33% from behind the arc...idk if that makes you a legend, but it can certainly get you into a managers training position at shoprite

Great players often have "negative?" statistics that go hand and hand with their grandiose accomplishments; i.e. Mantle leading the league in home runs and strikeouts or Favre leading the league in touchdown passes, fumbles and interceptions.
