The lack of information on anything regarding this kid is odd....

The lack of informtion on these kids seems to be the norm.  And the information we do read is usually useless.  Yet we all still check out these blogs and boards

No intent to knock any posters here.  Just refelecting on the unpredictable and unreliable nature of hoops recruiting.  I recall watching a Sampson interview a month or two before his announcement.  In the interview he listed five schools and left out St John's till prompted by the interviewer.

Actually, if you had read these boards, you'd have realized that the info on Sampson was entirely correct.  In Chandler's case, there is no info because it's in the NCAA's hands.   Once the NCAA hands down a verdict, everybody will know.  Nothing behind the scenes here.

I read these boards and most people had Sampson headed elsewhere.  In fact after the UND game we were bummed over the point that one of the  posters on this sight had heard that he ruled us out.  It was the topic of conversation at the Irish Times that afternoon.

He was being lead elsewhere which was the only confusion.  Many worried that he would be forced to attend another school.  Thankfully that didn't happen, but almost all of the behind the scenes was posted on these boards.  The entire story was correct.  The outcome was certainly up in the air at times but not because Jakarr dint want to attend SJU.  As Jakarr stated afterward, his heart was always here.  Sometimes these things aren't as simplistic as you get be lead to believe.

The decisions for these top players are unpredictable - unless you are a Kentucky fan.  The board is the best place to get the latest information, but even the "insiders" have it wrong most of the time.  Even the coaches get fooled.  I hardly ever take the players words or the insiders posts as a matter of fact.  The DRF consensus has a higher batting average picking the ten races at Belmont.  Early in the year, when Sampson was forgetting to mention SJU in his interviews nearly all had him going elsewhere - "up in the air" was not where this board was at that time.

I dont disagree with the scenario you lay out in the above post and I dont doubt how much Lavin had to overcome to pull Sampson to the right school.  One thing all of us should easily agee upon is how good Lavin is at this game.

just wondering...if chandler isn't cleared, does that mean that he tries again for us for 2013.  or does the coaching staff cut off ties with him and pursues someone else for either 2012 or 2013?

I'm just guessing- but if he doesnt qualify- prob JUCO.

You needed more confirmation than the head coach of the team he signed with?

Should get some solid coaching at Nortwest Florida.   HC Steve Forbes is off of Bruce Pearl's Tennessee staff, as are both his assistants - Jason Shay and fomrer Grad Asst Brooks Savage.  They lost in the JC Natitional title game this year, and conference MVP and JC AA PG Chris Jones (who was, not surprisingly, once upon a time a Tennessee signee) will be back for his soph season.

Pearl was hit with a 3year suspension (well, a 3yr "show cause", but amounts to the same thing) from the NCAA, and his staff all got 1 year rips.   Forbes took the NW Flordia JC gig, and Scott Edgar took the HC job at Eastern Oklahoma - the NJCAA puts them out of the reach of the NCAA sanctions.   I would imaging that holds true for Chandler, as well!  :)

Relax I did not see the tweet came from the coach.

On another note it would be even funnier if Pelle ended up at the same JUCO.

This Juco team must be loaded.

“@GaryParrishCBS: Looks like @ForbesNWFhoops has 4 prospects ranked in top 125 nationally. That would be good for a BCS team. Will be overwhelming in JUCO.”

Thank God Lavin didn't ease up on recruiting Obekpa when Chandler seemed all but locked up, but for his academics.   It's so nice having Lavin steering the ship.

Gotta believe the staff will be keeping their eyes on florida the next year or so...

Obekpa certainly was a great signing and even more important with Chandler not qualifying.  I think you're right Cr.  Lavin probably will keep a close eye on Chandler.  He was consistent with his recruitment of Chandler and doesn't just sever relationships with these kids.  No doubt he will continue to keep tabs.  Once again, thank you Chris Obekpa.  We have two legit post players in Gift and Obekpa which should keep us in good stead.

I can't imagine this kid makes it to a 4 year school ever.
When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

I can't imagine this kid makes it to a 4 year school ever.

Same was probably said about a guy like Glover. He needs to get his head on straight and figure this is his last chance

I doubt he will do more than one year at NE Fla.  He has a history of going to a different school every year; why should he change now.
