So how does eligibility work when a kid goes to JUCO?   If he wasn't ncaa eligible when he enrolled at the JUCO then he has to stay 2 years?  Is that true?

If someone could explain how eligibility works when you go the JUCO route, that would be appreciated.

It's usually 2 years and then you can transfer into a D1 school. I'd welcome him here should there be room and interest.

Not sure what the rule is now - back in the Dark Ages (my era), a 2 year JC or CC degree superceded your high school requirements - get that Associate in Arts degree from an accredited 2 year college, and that fulfilled your NCAA requirements, regardless of high school grades.   The kids that came to university after only 1 year of JC/CC  (at UCLA that was guys like future College POY's Walt Hazzard and Sidney Wicks) were the kids who were qualified out of high school, but elected to go JC for other reasons than grades.  That happend a lot more (obviously) back in the days when frosh weren't eligible for Varsity.

Is that still the case?

NWFS (college is called northwest florida state) is located in Niceville, Florida which is on the panhandle of Florida. I happen to live in this town. The conference he'll play in is easily the most competitive and strong conference in all of JC. NWFS, Chipola, Pensacola and Tallahassee are all JC powerhouses. He'll get excellent coaching and strong competition. More importantly, he'll actually get a good education. NWFS was recently, within the last 2 years, acredited to offer bachelors as well as associates degrees. The town is very upscale due to the military engineering contractors that work at Eglin AFB which hopefully will be a good influence on the kid. If he applies himself after 2 years he will qualify for St John if Lavin wants him.

Shouldn't Chandler be moved to Class of 2014?

Friend in Florida told me Chandler only plays about 8 minutes a game and averages 2 points thus far. This is a good team, but am a little surprised. Maybe he has been hurt or is devoting most of his time to academics. Yeah!

When 2014 rolls around I don't want to hear his name mentioned with us.  We should be passed that level of desperation by then.

And by then he will still be 50 credits short of graduating. BTW, his coach is a tough, no nonsense guy, not exactly a good match for MC.

I am a lot surprised by this. I know a lot of guys shit up their first year of juco and play good the second, but I was truly expecting to see 15 and 9 out of him as a frosh.

that is bizarre because he is a big time talent.

Let's be fair.  He started pretty slowly but is averaging 6.4/3.3 in about 13 mins per game since his conference play started.  Still nothing outstanding.

As I said on Redmen.   The minutes per game have no rhyme or reason.  He scored 22 points in a game that he played 1 minute supposedly.

Yeah, that's why I added a couple minutes per game.  There are a few games where they obviously didn't keep the stat.

Do you guys think we still consider him a recruiting target? I don't know his elgibility status but, if we were to miss out on some top name recruits, would he be a fallback option?

That was a hell of an effort. Likely 7 3 pointers and one four point play.  ;D
