Our defense was okay, but Stith's reaction time running the offense was pathetic.

We went 10-20 from the line. So that's it right there. At the end of the day, these kids have shown time again that you never know when they'll sh*t the bed.

Hopefully this games serves as a wake up call for the rest of the season...I think this team has a terrible issue to playing to the level of their opponent, they need put teams away when their on the ropes and hit so damn free throws!!.

WE ARE....ST JOHN'S! ....but frustrated Johnny in San Antonio

At this point, we are what we are.  This team has played together for almost 3 and a half years.  A few months here won't change much.

We are what we are, and unfortunately, what we have is a team made up of mostly A-10 talent.  Not impact Big East talent.  Not really their fault,  they were recruited and brought in at a lower level than most Big East players.

As for the coaching staff,  you cannot expect them to overhaul an entire offense with 10 seniors that have already played a certan way for 3 years.  I expect a total overhaul of what we do and what we run by Lavin and Dunlap next season when we have a fresh slate of recruits coming in.  I'm going to try not to judge this coaching staff with this years team, because a lot has already been established talent-wise and system-wise with this group before they came in to coach.

Disappointed....did not see the game heading home now to watch. Free throws killed us. When was the last time STJ had three 20 point scorers in a game?

when boothe leads the team in rebounding something is wrong.

we were schooled off the boards.  effort stat!

poor free throw percentage.  no one cares enough to practice.

i can't wait until next year when some elite players will be wearing the uniform.

I´m sorry but I only see 6 seniors (and one of them, Coker, has only played 18 of 285 minutes this season) that have played a certain way for 3 years. Thomas is not playing, Clark was a walk-on and doesn´t play, and both Brownlee and Hardy were jucos and have only played one year at St. John´s.

Lavin said his team has been working hard at foul shooting using a number of different approaches -- from having a "100 Club" in which players come in and shoot 100 free throws three times a week, to setting up pressure situations in practice, where a particular player is sent to the foul line and must make free throws in order for the entire team to avoid running sprints.

But there are no guarantees any of that will work.

"You just keep exploring, and trying to look for ways to try and improve your free throw shooting," Lavin said. "In my experience, we've had teams that really shot the ball well from the free throw line and we had teams that didn't, and usually it returned to that form. You know, you might improve a little bit.

"But we're gonna keep plugging away, keep shooting."

We saw the difference between SJU and a real BE team like WV last night. Both BE schools were up 2 at the half to lesser opponents, Robert Morris for WVU. WV opened the second half 21-7 and outscored them 50-21 for the half. what clicked at halftime for them that allowed them to blow out a team they were only up 2 on at the half where we shit the bed and blow a double digit lead? There are no complete players on this team, thats the problem. if someone is scoring they arent playing D, if they are shutting someone down on D they arent being aggressive with the ball on offense.

6th in the BE is a joke. this team will finish right where they did last year. maybe an NIT team. Pittino was right, a group of seniors playing together should have a shot at winning the conf, but this group would have trouble winning the A10

They had the best player on the floor and they won. Hard to win close games when you don't have the best player, can't shoot free throws and don't rebound.

It took the perfect red storm for us to lose that game:

- Jim Burr having multiple senior moments
Ticky tak late fouls, #44 steamrolling Hardy Boyz but refusing to foul him out.  We would have been better off if he had less than 4 fouls.  We would have gotten some charges.

Stith got fouled going for the loose ball with 20 seconds left than they called the jump ball when the Bonnie had only one hand on the ball and we were about to secure possesion.

- JB2 saving the ball inbounds with a perfect post feed to #44...ouch

- I knew there would be trouble when Davenport hit every piece of the rim yet still dropped the 3 with no time left in the first half.  I just knew it.

- The Lavin love fest could still be going on in full force...but nooooooooo!

Disgustingly close and painfull loss.  Saturday won't be a picnic either.

I think they did panic on last night, Baldi.  I could see it, as I mentioned it in the chat on here.

We're still essentially playing without a point guard; no real inside presence; no shooters and no leadership.  This is what you get on some nights.
