Quincy Roberts leaving?
« on: December 16, 2010, 02:40:58 PM »
My friend saw Quincy Roberts outside the Carnesecca ticket office, garbage bag and pairs of shoes in hand, talking about how "they" tried to offer him a job to stay..

I was wondering why he was in his warm-up suit during the Fordham game but this is an unbased rumor.  This is a second-hand account and we don't know who they is and if they was st. johns why would they be offering him a job?

Drexel would kill us. Why would they take him? Maybe he could get burn in New Rochelle? Or at Manhattan?

It makes sense for Q to leave now.  He can get a year and a half of basketball games in at a more appropriate level.   The fifth year is not guaranteed if he doesn't graduate on time--which is almost certainly could not do if hs stayed the whole year and then transferred.   If he can't crack the lineup with this team, he doesn't have a prayer next year.  It's kind of puzzling, because he looks like he can really play.

I don't know why more kids don't transfer mid-year.  You only miss a handful of usually meaningless games, but you are allowed to practice the whole time.

I wonder if STJ is on the lookout for a mid-year transfer.  It'd be nice to get a big soph or junior  to be ready to play by next Holiday Festival.

Maybe he'll replace Stith, and DJ will back up Boothe? It's hard to believe that we're too talented to find room for a talented player.

Quincy was over his head the moment he came to the Big east. I'm sure he is a nice kid but not a big east talent by any stretch. Wasn't going to play this year and most certainly not play with that class coming in next year. He'll do well at a mid-major.

Before we write post-mortems, let's see if he's actually LEAVING first.

I wouldn't be shocked nor should anyone else but I haven't heard anything like this yet.

Lets see if he's in uniform tonight.  Tonights games I think signify the 2nd semester so let's see.

We've got a lot of guys at his position and it's hard for him to get any recognition w out pt.

They keep losing, maybe DJ will go to the bench. Who knows? Anything is possible.

Coker started vs Fordham.

If he truly is leaving it wouldn't be a surprise and it would probably be a good move for him. He's not seeing any pt and with the class we have coming in next year he has to realize he will be a bench warmer the next two years. Q in the limited time I have seen him seems like a decent player who at a lower level could be a starter for a small conference team. If he wants to play that is probably his best option and I think Lavin and the staff have been honest with him about it.

Frankly, if he can hit a three, let's get him out there. He can have Stith's minutes since they're playing without a point guard anyway. Let him shoot some threes. I really don't think it's fair if the kid leaves without getting a shot. I'd like to see him at the 2 or the 3.

The rest of our guys have stunk lately. There should be room for another guy to get some burn.
