Unless this kid is bringing us to the Final Four I dont want him I think he might be one and done?
 :o
What would it do for the program if he came and left ala Ric Ledo did to Providence
 :-\

Problem with the comparison is he is a better player than Ledo and doesn't have the same 'personality' that Ledo had.

You really think he's a better player than Ledo, Moose?

Absolutely.  Not even a question.  Whitehead is a ballplayer.  Can run point, involve others.  Ledo is a chucker.

Ledo/Whitehead is a bad comparison.

Whitehead isn't a 1 and done and is possibly a high school AA.

As he's matured he's learned that he's capable of taking over and being primary scorer. As he was younger I feared he wasn't capable of putting that together and would be a good complimentary player. He doesn't play enough above the rim to be 1 and done ala D'Angelo Harrison but he has more bounce and physical abilities than DLO.

You mean Ledo, not Harrison, right?

No I'm comparing him to Harrison. Ledo is 6'6 bouncy attacking wing while Whitehead is a 6'4 combo guard. They are really different

"ARDSLEY, N.Y. — A few tweets sent three weeks ago, and another college basketball package deal was born.

Isaiah Whitehead (Lincoln High/Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Ja’Quan Newton (Neumann-Goretti/Philadelphia, Pa.) initially confirmed the rumors to Jeff Borzello of CBS Sports on June 28. Following the first July live period, Whitehead continued to state his desire to play with Newton at the next level.

“We just talking about it,” Whitehead told NBC Sports at the BasketBull Summer Championships on Saturday. “We’re serious, but we haven’t pictured ourselves at a school actually play together.”

Whitehead and Newton both have a wide-open recruitment. The duo both hold offers from Georgetown, Minnesota, Rutgers and Syracuse. As Borzello mentioned in June, Richard Pitino and his staff have made an effort to recruit the northeast and it appears it is paying off.

“I’m taking [my official visits] after the live period,” Whitehead said.

As for taking any with Newton?

“Possibly Minnesota,” Whitehead answered.

Whitehead, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard is ranked as the No. 17 overall player in the Class of 2014 by Rivals while the Newton, the 6-foot-2 point guard, is listed as the No. 41 by the same site. Both have a wide-open recruitment, and Whitehead said has no interest in cutting down his list of offers.

If this package deal were to become a reality, it will likely happen sooner rather than later.

“I’ll probably commit early in my senior year,” Whitehead said. “Probably like September.”

Though Whitehead says the talks with him and Newton are serious, he did tell NBC Sports that the school would have to be the right fit for both. He listed UCLA as school they are both interested in — however, Newton is still waiting for an offer from the Bruins.

This weekend St. John’s head coach Steve Lavin and an assistant Darrick Martin were in attendance to watch Whitehead play with the Juice All-Stars. Lavin has yet to offer Newton, as well."

Under Armour Milwaukee from Zags

·      Isaiah Whitehead—Whitehead was ruthless, scoring 18 points and grabbing seven boards against KC Run GMC. His ability to play fast and under control combined with his high motor makes him difficult to stop. Syracuse, Minnesota, St. John’s and UCLA are hot in pursuit.

Whitehead has been a white-hot name among scouting circles after a great performance at the NBPA Top 100 Camp in June and his scoring roll has continued into July. His play at the Under Armour Summer Jam presented by NY2LA Sports has been stellar thus far.

“It’s been great; the competition is good and we’re just looking to push forward,” Whitehead said of July. “I’ve played well, and moved up in the rankings. I think I’m a hot name on the circuit right now.”

Isaiah listed scholarship offers from Syracuse, Louisville, Minnesota, Florida, Seton Hall, St. John’s, Arizona and UCLA to NBC Sports and said that he’s open to whoever wants to recruit him.

“Everybody basically (is able to join my recruitment),” Whitehead said. “My recruitment is open to anybody that wants to come in and join.”

His comment makes it sound like he is waiting on someone to enter his recruitment.  Kentucky?

Looks like Louisville is out.

Says he wants to visit Syracuse, Arizona and UCLA officially.

Added that Minnesota, SJU and Miami still involved.

No inside information or anything like that, but my guess is that he ends up at Cuse if we don't land him (assuming that Louisville is out).

1. Cuse
2. Arizona
3. UCLA
4. Minnesota

I think UConn might make late run at him too.
