He will wind up being much higher when it's all said and done.   FWIW we will wind up in his top 2 because his mother loves Lavin.  We have backed off of Carrington and put the full court press on Whitehead now.  I thought for sure he was gone but this should make everyone really happy.  Tiny holds zero weight on this one and if his mom wants to see him play every game he will wind up a Johnnie  :)

Louisville and SJU I heard Happy.

Going to be a dog fight.

Grest to hear we are pressing hard for Whitehead.  One thing besides the mother that we have going for us is that Louisville is loaded at guard and still recruiting more.  They have some guards on the roster and bring in JC pg Jones this season as well as signed Terry Rozier and Anton Gill.  In addition they signed Quentin Snyder for 14'.  A lot of top notch guards for Whitehead to compete with.  At SJU, Whitehead will likely step in right away.  Guy feeling is Lavin will land him.  Let's hope that is the case.

We're pretty stocked up at the guard spot too.

All of guards will all be either seniors or have left already.  All of Louisville's guards are coming in in 13' and 14' and all gamers.  Whitehead will be playing right away next to Rysheed should he come here.

This kid is good but is he good enough to push a senior deangelo Harrison to the bench?

Yes

That would be scary good depth at guard.

BTW-As a personal observation the kid from what I am told is much more grounded then his former ballyhooed Lincoln alums Stephenson and Telfair.

Yeah this kid is nothing like those Lincoln guys of the past.  He is a good kid with a good supporting family.

He dropped off a bit simply because of boredom.  He has been dominating people for awhile.

Agree 100%  good kid and great family.  He will be a pro and be better than Stephenson and Telfair.  Kid is that good.

PMG and others have said that they heard from folks in the know that he wants to go away to school.  I guess his mother is not in that camp.  Let's hope this ends up being Sampson Part II, without the whole ineligibility thing of course lol.

His mother is in that camp and she is the whole camp.. the reason she wants him to go away for school is to get away from the distractions of NY.. That being said she has a fantastic relationship with Lavin .
Glad to see you back happy it's been a while , thanks for the confirmation, I had heard from the Lincoln camp during is8 Syracuse was the early leader but when Ron Patterson got there that kind of tripped them up. Great relationship with rysheed should help.

I don't think Harrison would be pushed to the bench.  I'm just not sure Harrison will hang around for his senior year.  If Harrison is still here, we'd play a ton of 3-guard lineup as have 3 absolute killers in Rysheed, Harrison and Whitehead.

My main point was that Louisville is bringing in a lot of new guards at same time and very talented ones.  Whitehead would be THE new guard and I don't think anybody to impede him from getting starters minutes.

Better than Telfair and lance? Idk bro, he just won his first chip as a junior in a weakened psal no where near as tough as when those two were playing. He's good but the comments of better than d'lo, lance and Telfair IMO are a tad pushy.

Let's agree he would be an awesome pick up. He and Jordan have off the charts potential. Staff could figure this one out.

Thank you CHILE good to be back.. had a little rough go of it for awhile but I figured id post what I heard.. As for my comment of better than both Stephenson and Bassy I meant as a player in the long run.. It would be tough for most people to duplicate the success both had in HS.  I have said it and I believe Moose has as well that this kid is bored in HS .  He is going to be a tremendous college player.

By all accounts whitehead is a mcds all American level with better size than d lo. That should be enough talent to at least push d lo for his position

And what it's telling us is that you've about lost your mind. Harrison is on pace to graduate as the third leading scorer in SJ history. If he's here his senior year he'll be a 22 year old grown ass junk yard dog and Lavin would have to be stupid or insane to start a freshman over him. And I don't think Lavin is insane.

Have to agree with Foad and Choz.  D'Angelo's best attribute isn't his talent level, which is very high.  His best attribute is his killer instinct.  If he can tampen down on the "hulk smash" volatility he has, his potential to lead us deep into the tourney is significant. He averaged almost 19ppg which was easy for him.  D'Lo is a 4 year starter here if he's here that long.  Whitehead would be a guy we could easily move to 3rd guard and get him starter's minutes regardless.

Well if anyone would know about losing mind it would be you ;)

After what we just went thru with Harrison and Lavin handling it, if you were a betting man it might not be a great bet to figure him to be around a full 4 years.

You may be underestimating impact of D'Lo's anger management class. Look at positive outcomes for Chris Brown, Sean Penn and Idi Amin.

That wasn’t the question. The question was whether IW as a freshman was going to start over DH as a senior. If DH leaves before he’s a senior, IW can’t start over him, because he’s not there.

I like Harrison a lot, and I think it would take an immensely talented freshman to take minutes away from him as a senior (more talented than Whitehead for ex).  But lets not make him out to be a great scorer.   It might sound like semantics but he's a very good player and scorer.   There is a difference.

He'll owe his place in the SJU record books in large part to the opportunities he's been given.   How many players in SJU history have gotten 35+mins from the jump?  How many have gotten 14+ shot attempts as freshmen and sophomores?   He had a green light from the day he walked in the door, and this past season he showed me he was much more of a volume shooter than the efficient scorer we'd like him to be.
And this past season wasn't just a result of seeing double teams and having a poor cast around him; his free throw shooting dropped to 76% too.

Again, he's our best player, and I can't imagine a freshman coming in and taking his spot in the lineup.   But, if all the accolades we heap on him are deserved, then he's got to play better than he did last year.
