It would seem like that at first glance.  I really like Terrell a lot regardless.  While he might not be Whitehead, he is strong and a very talented kid.  Gotta take the kids that want to be here.  Whitehead has never made any indication he wanted to stay home unfortunately, and i think we are probably better off concentrating our efforts on kids that want to play their ball here.

Also a possibility the two "packages" influencing the decisions - Terrell/Whitehead may be slight advantage Whitehead, but Malik-Abu/Newton is a huge difference in both want and need.   With Rysheed, Jamal and Phil all likely still here for what would be the newcomers frosh seasons, not sure a PG like JaQuan Newton figures into our plans the way an elite PF does!

Sorry, but this guy admitted later he was wrong about that. He also made another mistake the prior day regarding staff watching a Cali PG.

Newton just cut it to 6.  Looks like Minnesota, Syracuse, Miami and UCLA same as Whitehead.  Whitehead also has SJU and Arizona.  Newton has Texas A&M and Oregon.

If Kaleb Joseph goes to Cuse it shakes things up a lot. If he doesn't then Newton + Whitehead to Cuse has serious wheels.

Something stinks with this one...   kid doesn't visit, doesn't tell his AAU coach and then commits.

I like Larranagha.  Don't think he is a cheater. Hard to say a city like Miami doesn't recruit itself.  Lots to like about South Beach.   Didn't Larranaga's brother graduate from STJ?  I know he and his family is from the area.

The school is also a top 40/50 private institution in a very fun city. That's a HUGE selling point.

Man, this all gets to be such a jigsaw puzzle.  By now folks know Indiana SG James Blackmon Jr (2014 IU commit since he was 14!) has decommitted and reopend his recruiting.    Talk is now that if AAU teammate Trevon Blueitt  (top 50 2014 SF) commits to UCLA (new Bruin assist. Ed Schilling was Blueitt's high school coach last season), then Blackmon may well join him - taking them out of the Whitehead sweepstakes...

As others have pointed out he is going Syracuse anything else would be a shock.

To me Abu is the biggest disappointment in terms of targets not going to SJU.  Going to fun watching coach hustle this fall in recruiting.

He can do it but obviously with some of these targets going elsewhere it makes it much more difficult.
