"Since Isaiah Whitehead was supposed to visit Minnesota in the near future and a few of their recruiting writers have guessed that he will go to Seton Hall, I would think they aren't likely to land Whitehead. I've also heard that Pittsburgh doesn't have much of a shot. Whitehead has recently visited both Indiana and Seton Hall, and will visit St. John's tomorrow. My opinion is that Whitehead will choose between those three programs, with St. John's being the popular pick. However, Seton Hall has as good of a chance as anyone."

“@SOrangeJuice: Isaiah Whitehead to announce his commitment on Thursday #shbb http://sbn.to/168s2js

The last sentence of that quote is comical.

Or;

“@AdamZagoria: Lincoln coach Tiny Morton to @SNYtv : "St. John's visit is huge."”

He who doth protest?

To me that means its either us, or he hasn't chosen anyone yet. Good news
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

If SJU visit is huge, Lavin just needs to seal it and IMO, things are leaning in our favor.  We know he can do that.

Some things are "done" in advance.

Two weeks ago Seton Hall wasn't on his list, and it appeared like we weren't recruiting him anymore.   Now, he's making an announcement and it's likely one of the two? Crazy.

I've got a bad feeling, but I also have a hard time seeing Lavin lose a NYC kid to Seton Hall.  We'll just have to wait and see.   Maybe tomorrow's visit blows him away.  That's what I'm hoping for.

SJU fans always have a "bad feeling". Those are the cards we've been dealt for sooo long.  Low expectations like Crgreen used to say.  We've been on him for years longer than Seton Hall, and Whitehead's mom loves Lavin and Co.  I just don't see him heading there at this point.  His AAU coach's comments also aren't overly flattering  with something like "oh yeah,  Seton Hall is good too...".

His mom wants to see him play and if he stays home, which I'm thinking he will do at this point, it will likely be SJU.

My feeling is based pretty much on the theory that kids go where there is guaranteed playing time.   But that's only applicable when all else is equal, and as you pointed out we have been involved forever and Shu hasn't.   Which is a good point.   So now idk.
I'm hoping you're right.

Here's another theory:  in recent months IW has come to the conclusion that he wants to stay close to home. Since SJU had backed off, the next closest option is the Hall. He takes the visit but realizes while close to home, not really the place for him. With the Hall visit out of the way, Lavin is informed that IW wants in to SJU.   Lavin sets up the visit knowing that its 75% done deal. Mom loves Lavin, IW is friendly with Sheed and he already has a comfort level with our school and team.

I think he's ours.

with  the recruitment of chris obekpa and rysheed, lavin loves to "procrastinate" but at the end of the day, he gets his work done.

I was at Baruch College during the winter of 2012 when Lavin was on his leave from coaching. There was a high school tournament going on that included Lincoln vs Robert Vaux (Rysheed Jordan). Lavin was the only coach in the building watching. So the seeds have been planted long ago on this happening. We didn't just enter the picture this week contrary to what some opposing fans and less informed media think. However, we still have to impress him and hope he likes what he sees and hears.

I have a gut feeling he will be a Johnnie. Usually I'm pessimistic when it comes to recruits, but it all adds up this time. I'd be pretty surprised if we don't land him.

Heard otherwise as the interest in being the face of he program (Seton Hall) is real for Whitehead.   As others have said this is a 2 horse race and if Lavin does what he does best today then your statement will be 100% true by tonight.   Let's hope it is :)

Obviously like our chances, but PT at SH is not an issue to dismiss. That said, bet  on the "closer" & Lavin is a master at that.

How any kid would choose Seton Hall over STJ is beyond me. Star on Broadway, or take your talents to Newark? If he wants to be the face of the program, it won't shine very brightly in the swamps of New Jersey.

PT? Where have I seen that used as a recruiting tool before? Oh yea.

Just reflects so called experts opinions, but

“@SOrangeJuice: Yesterday, 247's Crystal Ball prediction had Seton Hall & Minnesota neck-and-neck for Isaiah Whitehead. Today? SJU leads 62%, SHU 21%. #shbb”
