The Next 8 Games
« on: January 02, 2011, 03:13:52 PM »
This looks undoubtedly like the toughest stretch of the season (6 of the next 8 against RPI Top 12 teams) and potentially determine making our first NCAA Tournament in nearly a decade. Coming off of two very solid road wins, what are your current expectations for the next eight games?

 • GEORGETOWN
• at Notre Dame
• SYRACUSE
• NOTRE DAME
• at Louisville
• CINCINNATI
• at Georgetown

If we win 4, we're in good shape. 6-4 with that kind of competition is actually impressive. The BE is far better than anyone imagined.

Cinci, RU, UC, Prov and Louisville are all better than I expected.

I think those teams you've mentioned have been better than what I've expected, as well.  I believe we go 4-4 in our next eight games.  I tell 'ya what, though....  If, we win tomorrow and Saturday @ Notre Dame....  Watch out!

For whatever reason, ND has been tremendous at home under Brey. He and Cronin have got to be the early favorites for Coach of the Year in the BE.

I'd sign for 4-4. I believe we'll be narrowly favored in two of the games, Cincy and ND (MSG).

The thing that gives me hope for next week is we beat ND at their place last season.

I think we go 3-5 over this stretch. The level of competion is stepping up but we can play better. This would leave us at 5-5 in the league and a shot at 9-9 in the BE.

3-5.

As long as they show up in all the games, I think 3-5 is still on pace for the NCAAs. I thought before the BE play started, 5-5 by the end of January puts the team in good position for the postseason - assuming they take care of business against the Seton Halls and Rutgers of the league.

Assuming one of the 5 losses is to Duke we would be 5-4 in the conference.

I would figure 3-5 at least but hopefully we get an upset and go 4-4. That leaves us at 6-3 in the Big East which would be phenomenal if we can pull it off.

If we can take 3 out 4 home games which is very tough and then steal a road game then we would be in good shape I think. The Big games are the home games because we need to take care of business there because we play four good teams. I don't think theres another team in the country that has faced or will face or more difficult 8 games stretch. I mean 7 top 20 teams and an undefeated UC team, crazy.Tomorrow is a huge game for us, we can beat G'Town.

Absolutely have to split with Georgetown and Notre Dame. I say 4-4, the other 2 loses against Cuse and Duke.
