Career opportunity the one that never knocks
« on: January 21, 2011, 09:44:34 AM »
Here we go again.  Huge game at Alumni Hall - packed  house - prime opportunity to make a lasting memorable impression on the die hard/casual fan/curious student in attendance alike.  One that will ensure that they keep coming back for more.

Our recent history in this spot is not good. Several years back, sell out crowd,  Rutgers vs. SJU with a big east tournament bid on the line.  Quincy "smoke a" Doobie goes off like he's Reggie Miller and we go down hard.

Last year, the big game for local bragging rights and recruiting edge, Gonzo vs. Norm in a jammed Alumni Hall.  The Redmen spit the bit and Gonzo is seen taunting the Johnny Jungle at game end in a now telling look into his fragile mental state.

We need to do better tomorrow.  We MUST win this one.

I was at that Rutgers game. It proved once and for all that Roberts was simply lost.
Kids to rise to the occasion. We are a senior team that often play like freshman.

Remember the Cincy game at Alumni in which we were rolling than Prez got ejected and Cincy came back from a large deficit to beat us?

Or the Marquette game when Sean Evans missed breakaway dunk and then the Butler did it to us at the buzzer?

If somehow we can pull out this 9 game stretch(gtwon-Duke) at 5-4, no matter the loses we've endured everyone on this board would be ecstatic.  All wins would come against ranked teams and more importantly we will have a leg up on the teams we will be fighting with to get in the top 8 for when the Big East Tourny starts.  Our bench has got to find a way to play above their normal games and the starters need to show that they play consistently good for us to do this.  Two of the next three teams we have fared well against when we were down, we need to keep that trend going.

Not looking ahead to much, tomorrow like everyone feels, is not only a must win, but in my mind a convincing win.  The starters need to come out strong, play D and shoot lights out.  These guys have got the support behind them, it is about time they give something in return.
