Defining a successful season
« on: March 18, 2011, 10:43:54 AM »
Yes, we all know it's disappointing, but all of agreed in November at Stout that making the dance for the first time in 9 years would be considered without any doubt a successful season.

These kids worked. They listened, and they made it fun to be a St.John's fan again.

Now that the anger has subsided it is easier to look back on the season. No way it can be categorized any other way than a complete success.  St. John's basketball has returned to NYC.  We won 21 games against one of the hardest schedules in the country and had some dramatic and fantastic wins.

We have a top flight coaching staff and the #2 recruiting class in the country. I expect Lavin and Co. to be in the top 10 in recruiting class every year, because that's what he does. Future is bright.

Let's Go Jimmer!   F... the Zags!

Agreed.  The team showed improvement throughout the year and reached their (and our) dream of making the NCAA's.  They bought into the changes and it is difficult to teach and old dog new tricks--that's what I enjoyed best about the players as they accepted new roles.  And just as important was how the coaches handled the players to get them to buy in and improve as a team.

The past was dismal, today is a little sad as the season and the dream has ended for a great bunch of future alumni, but the futue looks rosy.  Just think, we couldn't say two of those three for a number of years.
