Dave, I definitely feel as if they could use one more pure shooter.  Looks like the rest of the targets do not fit this mold. Is coach satisfied moving forward without one? Not that I am complaining with our ridiculous roster coming in the next two years.

We need to let Brian go. Brian wants to be a starter and he should be at some school.

Would you take him over KA or Amile? We will, hopefully, have no space for him.

17 months ago we would have been all over a player with Brian's talent.  What a difference with Coach Lavin!

We're fine in terms of shooters.  Yeah I'd love a gunner specialist as a 13th schollie but can't prioritize that over the Top 50 level talent we have and are bringing in.

Moose, I agree that we have insane talent, but those zones will pack it in.   We could use one more shooter other than d or mo. Otherwise we will really need to turn the other team over to create points.. would be nice for half courted sets

This team on the whole is a lot better shooters than anything we had last year.  Just having these options on the court is scary because if Harrison is lighting it up we won't have offensive liability like Boothe being open.  It would be a penetrator like Nuri or Phil etc....

I'd love a player like Bernardi as last player off the bench.  But I just think he wants to play and here minutes will be very tough to come by.

Harrison shot .344 from three point land in high school.

Hardy, Kennedy or Horne had better percentages playing in the Big East.

He took 253 3's.  Hardy took 175, DJ 55 and Paris 69.  D'Angelo was a one man gang similar to Hardy where he was the only player on his team.  I expect similar %'s to Hardy if not better because of the better players around him to deflect attention.

Yes, he took many three points and he was a one man gang. But he shot .57 from two point land, a very good percentage. The question is that he had a very good percentage inside the three point line and not so good from the threes.

Of course he will have better players in the team. But he will be defended by better players, too.

I think Bernardi would be awesome in the CAA. A player who is similar to him Patrick Halloway went to George Mason recently is a player who was recruited right where he should be.

I think Bernardi could be a good role guy in the A-10, hell even Big East/12 but it would have to be the right system for him and he'd never be on the floor for extended minutes because of defense. If he were willing though he'd be a great guy to come in and zone bust, give high energy for 4-8 minutes a half with a chance at increased minutes as a senior but that's certainly a sacrifice

I hope Bernardi lands where ever he wants to go. He's a great kid from a great family.

I would love to add a pure shooter but I think people are really selling Kyle Anderson short as a shooter.  I expect kyle to be a very good deep threat for us with Harrison, Harkless, and Green. Don't forget that we might see some lineups next year with five deep threats on the floor at once...like the four named above and SAmpson. Zone that.

Interesting...Doherty pulling one out of NY.

Brian Bernardi was ready to head home and go through his final six schools, to further analyze each program’s plusses and minuses. When he thought about SMU, however, there were no negatives.

As it turns out, he didn’t need to get back to Staten Island to decide. Xaverian’s 6-foot-2 shooting guard verbally committed to the Conference-USA school Wednesday night while still in Dallas, Texas.

“Right after I left from the visit, it just felt right,” he told The Post. “I just wanted to commit right away. I really liked the Texas area. The coaches were great to me. I feel comfortable with them.”

I wonder how Doherty sold Bernardi with that terrible w/l record in Dallas.

I also wonder how Doherty kept his job at Southern Methodist to get an actual winning season last year.

The women are supposed to be pretty hot, at least.

Doherty was a Bernardi shadow at camp this summer. I know that Bernardi didn't want to have an exclusive shooter role on a team. He knows thats the staple of his game but he wanted more and I'm guessing SMU offered exactly just that.

smu is trying to get into the big 12. so maybe in a few years they'll be a bit better. that could have been a pitch. although its relying on a lot to happen first.
