If you could only have one 2012 recruit....

Who would it be? (this is assuming that Jevon Thomas is already committed and on the way)

Kyle Anderson - Local kid who is a flat out winner.  You don't see a kid with this size and skill too often.

Kyle Anderson.  Just going off what i've read on here.  I have no first hand knowledge of any of them.  Anderson seems to be a kid that comes around once in a very long while, especially due to versatility and  his smarts.  I want him badly.

I am torn on the whole Anderson v. Gathers debate.  Anderson has the potential to be a very special player and has a skill set for his height that very few have, but from reports he could have problems defending on the next level.  On the other hand, Gathers is a beast, in the videos I have seen of him he plays with such aggression and that style of play would translate very well to the Big East.   If I was forced to pick one I would go with Gathers.  I love physical play and tenacity and to me Gathers brings that to the table.

Drumond would bring us a Final Four and possible championship.

Between Anderson and Gathers, I say Anderson.  I'd rather grab Jamari now for the four and hix extra year of experience/lifting will mitigate most of the difference in talent between him and Gathers.  Kyle fits this system so well.  He's a winner and he can get a rebound and push it as well as a point....you almost never see that.  Defensively, he will be able to defend multiple positions well in the zone.  He might not be a great defender man-to-man ,but he can keep bigs and guards honest in a zone.

With Kyle playing the four, we could potentialy have a lineup of four guys that can run the point:  Nuri/Jevon, Harrison, Harkless (albeit less than the others), and Anderson.  That's a get it and go offense.

I say Kyle Anderson.  He is a match-up nightmare for other teams!!

I can't see Kyle playing the 4. He'd have to gain a lot of muscle...

The idea of Anderson sounds good but isn't anyone concerned with the lack of quickness? Or where he'd fit? I could see him as a 3. But this team is going to need size, beef. Big men should be a priority. In my opinion, anyway.

A high basketball IQ can make up for a lack of quickness.  See Chris Mullin.  He could play the 1,2, or 3.  What a luxury to have.  i'm not a recruiting guy but i haven't read a bad word about his game or attitude.  This team will be lightening quick, Kyle will not hinder this one bit.

 Let's get them both.  ;)

Anderson... he has a unique skill set and could be really special.  That being said I could settle for Gathers :)

Can he shoot like Chris, though?

Anderson hands down.

I'd say Kyle Anderson. As much as a savage as Ricardo Gathers is he's a bruising undersized PF. KA is a unique and pure talent. He'd make everyone on the team better.

The more I see KA develop the more I can see him playing a point forward role.

The consensus is obviously KA here but I really think we need a guy like Gathers. We have a lot of talent at the wing and I know KA is very skilled player but I think Gathers muscle and scoring inside could be the thing to push this team over the top. I think Lavin and the staff have realized this and that why we are the top of Gathers list right now.

I agree. I believe we need Gather's bulk and strength inside.

I agree with Anthony, this team desperately needs some size and toughness. Gathers it is

Having seen Anderson I think he would cost some wings time whereas Gathers fills a need.  I'd give him the edge.
