Rumble in the Bronx '11
« on: June 06, 2011, 09:01:13 AM »
Noticed this upcoming weekend (6/10-6/12) is the tournament. Anyone have a copy of a schedule yet by any chance?

Thanks,

JM

They have their own site.  It is run by Jim Hart and the Albany City Rocks.

BTW-It appears that it will be run over several sites this year in addition to Fordham:

Last year they had the different sites as well but the premiere games were always at Rose Hill.

Generally all the 16/17 would be at Rose Hill not sure how they got a "contract" to get Fordham back with NCAA. Regardless this is good for AAU and hopefully they can defeat NCAA in this no division 1 campus stuff

The schedule came out and it's all over the place. From what I can piece together, Saturday in NJ at a place called City Sports on 4 offers an oportunity to see Kyle Anderson play. Also CBC will be there and Drummond plays with them. Metrohawks also going to be there. I don't see Juice All Stars listed in the 17 pool, so perhaps Jevon will also be there with the Metrohawks.

Any idea who Jevon is playing with at the Rumble? I'd like to get a look at him.

As 'Nut said the thing is a mess.  There are lots of sites.  Some are easier actually for me to hit up.  Who else is going and where are ppl going.  We need to spread the wealth.  Rosters would be great but I know thats asking a lot.  The way I see it is I almost want to focus on 2013.  I've seen the 2012 guys we would want to see.

2012-
Gathers- (Don't see 17U La Select team only 16U so guessing hes not there)
Kyle- (Playaz)
Jevon- (Could be MetroHawks or Gauchos with no Juice 17U team)
Bernardi- (Gauchos)
McGary- (Is he playing?)

2013 interests me more.  Any idea what team these guys play for?
Anya-
Jordan Washington-
Terrance Samuel-
Boswell-
Iverson-
Young-
Cameron-
Carr-
Britt-
Zarba-
Rathan-Mayes (new to 2013)

2014
Whitehead-
Devon Hall-

Good point Dave.  With the new rule that these AAU events cannot be held on college campuses not sure how this gets around the rule.

The current recruiting period is Quiet.  Meaning only on campus visits, NO off campus recruiting/evaluations etc are allowed.  The reason why the rule was put in place was when the TOC was held on Duke, UNC and NC St and the Peach Jam was held on Pitt's campus' during this recruiting period the coaches for those schools could technically be seen at those events even though off campus recruiting was prohibited because they were taking place on their campus so technically it was not a violation.  So the NCAA did away with this supposedly.

Well games are being held at Manhattan for some reason.  But Fordham is a no go this year.  Weird?

I was at Pitt for the Hoop Group Jam Fest and Jamie Dixon was no where to be seen.

As for Rumble I'm not sure I'll be going I've seen most of year teams/players play several timethis year and will see them again in July in WV and at camps. I'm enjoying the few weekends I have off to get a nice tan at the beach.

Maybe theyre still making repairs to the gym floor after the Fordham students stormed the court when they pulled the huge upset against St Johns?

So the broken floor was why they sucked the rest of the year?

The rule came into play afterwards but it does not require the coach of that school to be there.  I merely was stating that he has the ability to do something that no one else does.

I can't stand the ncaa. Now you have to spend way more money to get around to see the games. If you have a team the schedules are all over the place. It is horrible. I swear all college AD's and all high school coaches should file a grievance on the ncaa. They are the damn Somalia pirates.

Your right KOB.  Last night I bounced from Sarah Lawrence to Mt Vernon.  Then today I was at Manhattan probably going somewhere else in a bit.  Crazy.

I was talking to a D3 coach who mentioned because Manhattan has a long term contract thats the reason it was still there.  However once that contract is up then it will be even worse.  That was the case with Fordham not having one.

Well next year they should sure up a non D1 multi court facility. It's hard to scramble around this year to find open courts. There is Monroe college and Lehman college who have nice facilities. Not sure what Bronx CC offers. The largest facility in the near area might be Queens College. I'm pretty sure QC is 7 court facility.

Thanks Moose and that is why Pitt was able to host the Jam Fest but Duke, UNC and NC St wre not allowed to host the TOC.
