2013 recruits
« on: June 16, 2011, 08:45:19 AM »
Alex Kline (the recruit scoop) has a long list of schools (ie. Syracuse/Gtown/Cinn/Gtech/etc)  and which 2013 recruits they contacted starting at 12am today.  St Johns does not seem to be on the list.  Does anyone know if we were doing this and if so whom we reached out to?

What Kline did yesterday was beyond annoying.  Tweeting every couple minutes about the schools contacting players.  I understand it was Day 1 but my god was it over the top.  And I'm not the only one who felt that way as many others commented on it as well.

To answer your question, maybe the staff didn't contact anyone.  Maybe they did later in the day when they knew less schools would be calling and they had more time to talk with the kids.  So many factors.  All I know is if this staff tells me the sky is purple I will believe them, so they have my trust.

Big time.  And my God Moose is right.  Do we really need to know every school that called Brannen Greene????  99% of those schools will never get beyond an initial phone call in terms of his recruitment.

To add do we really need to know who San Francisco called?

Interesting to see how the 2013 PG recruiting takes shape. Their name has been mentioned by 4 different PG's.

Terrence Samuel
Shane Rector
Nate Britt
Xavier Rathan-Mayes (re-classified from 2014)

Thoughts?

Some might wonder if we need a PG in that class or what caliber since Jevon will only be a Soph.

It depends on if Lindsey sticks around and/or if we land Anderson.  It doesn't hurt to get involved with these guys just to cover your bases.

Of course.  That's why recruiting going forward will be a lot different than we're used to.  We're gonna be listed with LOTS of top level players.  Some will make us scratch heads because of limited PT and depth charts but we have to cover our bases like you said in case Nuri doesn't last 3 yrs, or others depart, etc.

New territory for a lot of us.

Hey, he may have done that just FOR coach Lavin.  USF = Lavin Dream Job  (well, at least it USED to be)....
