What he said that they're going to be "ducklings" and it wouldn't be fair to expect them to compete on a high level right away. He did, however, say that 12-13 would be our year.

IMO a .500 season with a possible trip to the NIT is not impossible. Interesting that last year Lavin said our schedule was the toughest of any team he's coached and he would not schedule that way with a team full of freshmen yet the scheduling of Duke, Kentucky, UCLA, possibly Arizona in the CC Classic point to an equally difficult schedule this year. Continual improvement throughout the season, the emerging talent and an exciting brand of basketball may be the barometers of a successful season. Throw in a few upset wins at the Garden (which I believe will happen), top it off with three outstanding recruits for 2012 and we'll be in great shape.

I dont think Jimmy b said anything unreasonable.  It is certainly going to be a tough season.  We are young and talented.  Two "problems" we havent had in recent years.  I actually do think we have a shot at the NCAA's though if things come together.  Marquette was strong down the stretch last year, despite a good bit of youth.  We will certainly be younger, but down the stretch, might be able to do some damage.

We will have a ton of talent and I agree with Jimmy B. It will take time. There will be a lot of rookie mistakes. It will be fun to watch a talent laden team. I hope we stay close enough and as the team jells late we make a crazy run. That will be fun!
I am hoping for a 16-13 or 17-12 type of record. If so we have success for Year 1

From what I've read and the little I've seen we seem to have some real tough character guys coming in.  Harrison, Pointer, Lindsey, Harkless, Sampson and Achiuwa are not shrinking violet types at all.  If we get a little momentum going OOC and avoid the Fordham, St Bonnie type losses we could certainly make some noise.  Lavin is the last guy who would say that and good for Boeheim if he thinks so.  A 3rd ranked class is not to be taken lightly and those who do will pay the price.  2012/13 will be a trip.

Happy to be able to agree with your post my friend.

It's a no-news story, but there is beauty in the fact that Boeheim comes to NY to accept an award and has to answer questions about St. John's hoops.

You know that probably got him going inside :)

Especially since they are "new york's" team

As much of a fan I am I dont think we are going anywhere this year ( unless lindsey is really the gods )

The schedule is going to be monstrous. We will be a lot of fun to watch and for this year that's enough. Next year we are going to wreck havoc on teams
