Jordan has had his list pared down to Temple, St. John's and UCLA for at least the last two months, but Internet rumors and multiple sources have Jordan leaning toward St. John's as his decision approaches tomorrow. SNY.tv's Adam Zagoria reported Wednesday that Jordan is expected to commit to the Red Storm.
Jordan and his AAU coach, Kamal Yard, could not be reached for comment Wednesday. Two sources OwlScoop.com spoke with Wednesday said Jordan and Temple coach Fran Dunphy have continued to talk throughout the week and indicated that Jordan had not informed the Owls' staff of any decision either way.
St. John's, which is coached by Steve Lavin, finished with a 17-16 record and saw its season end in the NIT with a loss to Virginia. Temple advanced to its sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament, where it lost to No. 1 seed Indiana, 58-52, in the third round.
Jordan lives close to Temple's North Philadelphia campus and attended several games at the Liacouras Center this past season. If he does elect to stay home and commit to Temple, Jordan will have an immediate opportunity to make a big impact with a program that saying goodbye to five players in seniors Khalif Wyatt and Rahlir Hollis-Jefferson and graduate students Jake O'Brien, Scootie Randall and TJ DiLeo.
Temple's 2014 recruiting class currently includes two players in guards Josh Brown and Kyle Green. Brown, a 6-2, 180-pound point guard from New Jersey's St. Anthony High School, is rated by Rivals No. 130 overall in the 2014 class, while the 6-4 Green averaged 20.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game for nearby Camden Catholic High School. Both Brown and Green inked national letters of intent with Temple back in November during the NCAA's early signing period.
Temple has four more available scholarships to offer, and the Owls are said by several sources to be involved with 6-7, 225-pound forward Jaylen Bond, a former star at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School who is transferring from Texas, and Mark Williams, a 6-8, 230-pound forward from Montrose Christian Academy who could be coming in for an official visit to Temple this weekend.
