From Telep's "10 Toughest Calls"
4. Rysheed Jordan’s position among the elite
One of most drama-filled recruitments of the year belonged to the best prospect out of Philly, point guard Rysheed Jordan. Jordan’s rise was well-documented this season as he added the distribution skills to an already-impressive array of drives and his size at 6-foot-4. There’s an element of both potential and production with his ranking as the No. 3 point guard and No. 17 overall recruit. It was encouraging to see him have such an outstanding senior season coming off the summer of 2012, which didn’t meet his standards. The two most improved point guards this season were Jordan and fifth-year (so not eligible for the rankings) Louisville-bound Terry Rozier.

Interesting. Rozier committed to Louisville in 2011 - when he was a 4 star recruit, and listed as anywhere from the 12th to 15th PG in the class. Scout now has him as a 5 star, the #3 in the class. What's intersting, is that Pitino was able to sign JC transfer Chris Jones - two time first team JC All American, and this year's JC player of the year - a 5'10 PG. With Russ Smith, Wayne Blackshear and Kevin Ware back at the guard spots, and Rozier AND his 4star Hargrave backcourt mate Anton Gill joining the mix as frosh - seems like a bad choice for a kid like Jones, with only 2 years of eligibility remaining. There are any number of top schools where he could have stepped into guaranteed minutes at the 1....
Given his size Russ Smith's future (if any) at the next level is going to have to be at PG - you have to think, in agreeing to come back this season, some promises were made - at least backup minutes at the PG spot.
Several scouts believe that Chris Jones is not simply the best JUCO PG coming in but the best PG coming in regardless of high school or JUCO period.
Well he's a Jr so yeah I'd give him the leg up on freshman. Plus its not like he was a late bloomer. He was Top 50 kid out of HS who didnt have the grades.
Out of high school, Chris was ranked as the 12 PG in che class, behind Marques Teague, Myke Kabongo, Josiah Turner, BJ Young, Jahii Carson, Quinn Cook, Shannon Scott, Jamal Branch, Tyrone Johnson, Chasson Randle and Tyrone Adams by Scout.Com. (and behind all but Randle and Adams in the RSCI rankings).
Terry Rozier is ranked as Scout's #3 this year, behind only Andrew Harrison and Kasey Hill.
I agree, Jones is exceptional. From the highlights and one full game I've seen, he plays like Jahii Carson Lite. But it's against JC competition. He could be good, or he could be great. There's a good chance Rozier at Hargrave with their elite prep schedule, played with better talent and against SUPERIOR opposition than Jones did at his JC in Florida.
