As much as I'd love Anya, staff isn't recruiting in the DC area. They are sticking to the waters they know. I've tried since last year to get them on Anya.

Lawrence is the real deal. Can't remember if I posted this from the spring but he was at Hoop Group Top 100. #49

Hoop Group Brings Out Best Ballers in New York City for Elite Top 100
Anya got schooled by smaller and quicker Paul VI players like Coleman Johnson and then awesome frosh Markus Derrickson.  I badly want MD to get Derrickson.

Yes, the staff reached out last year, but unless there's a player that really wants to come up to NY Metro area, it might be a hard road to ride on.  Then again, if Anya goes to Cuse cuz of MooMoo, I'd counter with 100 reasons why SJ's is better next season and seasons to come.  Especially with B retiring in 2 years.

Gimme guys like Jakarr, Sanchez, Lawrence, McCullough and we have absolutely no need for Anya.  I think Lawrence and McCullough are our SF/PF combo of the future.  Two huge priorities and both are high on Lavs and SJU.   The future is extremely bright.  This 2012 class will be a LOT better than anybody expected and the truth is that this might be one of our weaker recruiting years if that is possible.  Very exciting times...

Seriously - we have one player committed right now, how can you say this..? You really must have some inside information that no one else has...

Not saying you can't be be correct in the end but to declare something like" this might be one of our weaker recruiting years" is a bit ridiculous.

Two - Balamou and Jakarr (not counting Branch).  Also, some would have us believe that Sanchez and Bourgault have already committed, but are just waiting to make it public.

I am including Branch who will suit up for this class.  With those 3 alone we have 2 top 50 kids there.  I think we''ll still land 3 more.

Hey, this is Lavin recruiting we're talking about.   In the 2001 HS recruiting class, he landed the #18, #28, #39 and #100 players in the RSCI (Ced Bozeman, Dijon Thompson, Andre Patterson & Mike Fey).  Two of them reached the NBA, the other two were both 15pt/7 rebound players in the NBDL.  Of the years he's had more than 2 rides to give, that remains his WORST recruiting class.  It was ALMOST his best.  He'd also locked up #4 Tyson Chandler that year, but it turned out he had eligibility issues dating from his sophmore year of AAU ball - he had to go pro instead.   And Steve also had a verbal from a Euro guard.  But late eligibility issues came up there as well (club team payments to TEAMMATES made his amature status questoinable), and Frances Tony Parker went pro to San Antonio instead.   Ah, the vagaries of coaching and recruiting  - If THAT class had arrived complete, what are the odds Steve is fired 2 years later, and that St. Johns has him now?

(He's had 3 years in which he had only 1 scholarship player added.  Jason Kapono in '99 was ranked #10, TJ Cummings in 2000 was ranked #28, and Trevor Ariza in 2003 was ranked #19 ---- Steve does well with limited resources, too!)

From ESPN Rumor Central.  No mention of STJ

ESPNU Super 60 point guard Rysheed Jordan (Philadelphia, Pa./Vaux Roberts) may not have officially whittled down his list of schools, but the Gary Payton-clone tells The Baltimore Sun that six schools are showing the most interest: Maryland, Temple, Villanova, Seton Hall, La Salle and Drexel.

Sure sounds like he wants to stay in Philly.  As Dave said he was at numerous Temple games this year.

I mean a few weeks ago he said not only SJU was recruiting him hard but Kansas was as well.  Now he includes a lower level A-10 school (LaSalle) and a Colonial school (Drexel).

Uuy

For sure! Not the end of the world, but with Wainwright fading and this, a bit disappointing.

I really really hope not, maybe we've just been focused on 2012 that not much noise is being made with the 2013 targets

Yeah.  Kline insists SJU still in it although he says Maryland and Georgetown probably lead for his services right now.  Thinks he will end up at Georgetown, Maryland or SJU:

IS RYSHEED JORDAN HEADING TO THE STATE OF MARYLAND?
From one Philadelphia native staying in-state to another who may be leaving to head to the ACC or Big East, 2013 6-foot-4 Vaux Roberts (PA) point guard Rysheed Jordan is in a Maryland state of mind. The Terrapins and Georgetown Hoyas appear to be the unofficial leaders for the extremely talented guard, who is playing with Philly Pride this spring. Jordan has taken two unofficial visits to Maryland and has been on the Georgetown campus once. Both schools have been extremely active in his recruitment along with St. John's and NC State. An extremely fast-paced player with a great basketball IQ and ability to distribute the ball and score, Jordan has plans of making a college decision sometime in July, possibly before the Live Period begins. Look for the No. 12 player in the Rivals150 for the class of 2013 to wind up at either Georgetown, Maryland or St. John's in the end.

Bottom line is Rysheed's a city kid at heart. Once Temple signed on to the Beast, they became even more of a likely destination after Rysheed's prolly 20+ unofficial visits.  Turgeon is pushing hard, and I hope it'll be the Harrison twins or Sheed and Stan Robinson for the Terps.  I want Calipari to feel the double sting of losing the twins similar to losing Bazz.

The good news is SJ's and MD are in the running because the article stated what we knew - he doesn't want to be far from home and mom.  The 2 hour drive is perfect for NYC and DMV.  KU is out but a nice gesture from BS - ha ha ha

Md., as suggested in previous post, is working hard to land Jordan, but SJU still noted.

He still lists SJU and says he will cut list down later this summer.  Still hearing Maryland heavy favorite for him.
