This 2012 class will be a LOT better than anybody expected and the truth is that this might be one of our weaker recruiting years if that is possible.
Seriously - we have one player committed right now, how can you say this..? You really must have some inside information that no one else has...
Not saying you can't be be correct in the end but to declare something like" this might be one of our weaker recruiting years" is a bit ridiculous.
Hey, this is Lavin recruiting we're talking about. In the 2001 HS recruiting class, he landed the #18, #28, #39 and #100 players in the RSCI (Ced Bozeman, Dijon Thompson, Andre Patterson & Mike Fey). Two of them reached the NBA, the other two were both 15pt/7 rebound players in the NBDL. Of the years he's had more than 2 rides to give, that remains his WORST recruiting class. It was ALMOST his best. He'd also locked up #4 Tyson Chandler that year, but it turned out he had eligibility issues dating from his sophmore year of AAU ball - he had to go pro instead. And Steve also had a verbal from a Euro guard. But late eligibility issues came up there as well (club team payments to TEAMMATES made his amature status questoinable), and Frances Tony Parker went pro to San Antonio instead. Ah, the vagaries of coaching and recruiting - If THAT class had arrived complete, what are the odds Steve is fired 2 years later, and that St. Johns has him now?
(He's had 3 years in which he had only 1 scholarship player added. Jason Kapono in '99 was ranked #10, TJ Cummings in 2000 was ranked #28, and Trevor Ariza in 2003 was ranked #19 ---- Steve does well with limited resources, too!)
