Chris McCollough. The 6-9 power forward told Fivestarbasketball over this past weekend that he intends to verbally commit soooner than one would think.

"I want to get it done by the end of the year," McCullough said. "I just want to get it over with."

Not sure if he means by the end of 2011 or by the end of the school year. Either way, hopefully he makes the right choice and comes to St. John's.

It's gotta be a good sign for us that he isn't planning on dragging it out.

Yea, i believe he said he almost committed but held off.  It seems like he did do his due dilligence this summer visiting schools to see whats out there.  He did love his Arizona visit and said they were in his top 2.  Never stated what the other school was though.

It was pretty much known we were the other school.

Some highlights-

St. John's has been instrumental in his recruitment thus far and has truly impressed him. Just last month, McCullough told RedStormReport.com publisher Maurice Wingate that the coaching staff and style of play at St. John's was "attractive." When asked again where the Johnnies stand in his recruitment, the 6-9 combo-forward said, "If I had a top five, [St. John's] would be in it."

St. John's is not the only school he is considering right now. When asked what schools he is considering, McCullough offered a list that included St. John's, Arizona, Syracuse, Florida, Villanova and UConn. He also made sure to indicate that all schools stand equal in his recruitment.

This summer, McCullough traveled coast-to-coast to take unofficials to many schools. He took visits to nearly every school he is interested in and does not plan to schedule any more for the time being. "Not now, maybe next summer," he said.

With McCullough taking so many unofficials this summer, he was able to start building relationships with coaching staffs from around the country. He also got a great feel of every school he is considering attending once he begins college.

When it comes to what he is looking for in a college, McCullough said, "style of play and relationships with coaches. And who's going to put me in the league."

"[I'm] not really sure yet," he said of making a final decision. "At the end of this year's AAU season."

Just a gut feeling, but I think we're way ahead for is kid.  Let's hope we keep the Big East a strong league and land this kid.  Monster PF for us down the line.

Zags article which says he wants to "Cut List to 6 by the end of next summer" (meaning wide open right now)

is in direct contrast to five starbasketball note that "he wants to get done by end of year"

I wonder which is right ? or is it just a kid saying 2 diff things to 2 diff people ?

No need to interpret.  They are in fact very close.

I know they are close from previous articles.  I was referring to the statement, which appears positive but not definative.

2013 Salisbury (CT) PF Chris McCullough had 19 pts & 10 rebs, while 2013 Vaux (PA) PG Rysheed Jordan had 11 pts, 10 rebs, 11 assts & 11 stls

Probably just a mistake but McCullough is still a 2014 recruit correct?
