The thing I notice with Lavin is that when we stop hearing about a guy that means he knows and he backs off.  I noticed that with Nick and with Carson and with Nash.  I'm not Lavin and don't know who he prioritized over who but I don't recall a recruit we thought we had only to see him pick another school.  So honestly I can't say we struck out on Nash, Johnson or Carson.  Definitely not Lamb because pure fact we were mentioned was amazing.

Regardless of how you interpret his batting avg it's damn good.

Ironic to see on Twitter that Doron Lamb was playing pickup at STJ today

He went out of his way at IS8 to let me know how bad Kentucky was going to beat St. John's.

Oh man.  Need to tell D'Angelo and company that.  D'Angelo will be gunning.  Lamb's shooting ability is scary though.

I'd chalk up Nash as a loss.  He came to the skills camp, right, and Lav recruited him hard after.  He was setup to visit and Lavin does not waste visits.  He would have been a great get, but Pointer is pretty damn similar.

I don't believe Nash was at the skills camp.  He was all set to visit then changed his mind and narrowed his list to handful of midwest schools.

I'm not sure I would really consider Nash to be a loss.  He never made a trip to campus.

I agree with MJ.  We weren't on Nash for long.  He did just cancel a visit, but was not at the skills camp.  The one guy I'd say we probably lost that we keyed on was Quinn Cook.  He went to Duke.  No face lost there.

Staff thought they had Nash locked up. They pursued him pretty hard.

Cook was more luke warm interest.

Well, he did choose one of the two schools I distrust most.  OK State.  The other is Baylor.

Visiting Rutgers today
If ST J is your dream school why visit Rutgers? ( a local rival).

So the kid is 3 years away from graduating and he should just commit to SJU without looking at other schools?

Relax.
Didn't say he should commit didn't say he should not visit other schools just thought it was curious if we are his dream school that he would visit another school in our area in our conference. He can go anywhere he wants.

Maybe he gave Lavin a soft verbal and agreed to pretend like he was uncommitted so other schools would waste recruiting resources trying to lure him in.  ;)

Chris seems to be impressed with St. John's and Coach Lavin with a minimum of contact to date.  I think we will see Chris at quite a few CA and MSG games over the next two years.  It can only solidify the Chris-St. John's relationship with all of the pending BB excitement to follow over the next few years.  We will be the mecca of BB particularly for the kids in the Metro area.

Visiting other schools should never be considered a sign of disinterest in St. John's.  These are kids getting to see the US, in some cases for free.

This is how I remember it as well.  Nash is really a filthy player, but can anyone really complain after we got Pointer?  Very similar players, and I think while Nash might be more skilled now, Pointer is actually a better athlete with a higher ceiling and a MUCH better attitude.

better attidue probably.  Better athlete is debatable but I would say Nash has about as high a ceiling as anyone in this class. He is probably 3 inches taller than pointer as well
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

Sounds like Team Scan is really starting to take off.  McCullough, Chambers and Newkirk can really put them on the map.

No way Nash is more than an inch taller than Sir'Dom.  Nash isn't taller than 6'6" and Pointer is about 6'5". I like Nash a lot, but I to think Sir'Dom is a very similar player.  Both smaller sized SF's height-wise who are physically strong and aggressive.
