Ty Walker would really add some must needed Height and Bulk to our small front line.Plus gives us experience as he would be a 5th year senior & would only take up one ship for one year.
Attack basketball, pressure defense, 40 minutes of hell ... Early on it might be 30 minutes of hell, then 10 minutes of what the hell are you doing?"

Unproductive 7 footer who was suspended by Wake today.  Wouldn't affect next year.  Would take a valuable ride away from 12/13.  Obvious no and it hasn't even been said that he's leaving Wake yet anyway.

Does he have any family in the greater New York area?
If so, perhaps someone suddenly becomes ill.

Are we really that small of a frontline?  God's Gift at 6'9"245.  Pelle at 6'10".  We used to be small.  This is bigger than we've been in a long time overall.

Yeah but that's only 2 guys.  Of course there's a bunch of guys who could fill out a little and be Brownlee-esque which in today's college game qualifies you to guard PF's.  Would still be more comfortable with one more big body but I would think we'd all prefer Gathers to this guy, right?

I know!  Pelle is as big/talented as we've had in a LONG time.  Last year we started a 6'7 beanpole and a 6'6 combo-forward as our frontline and we did very well (with small gaurds to boot).  We only suffered on the offensive glass, but that has more to do with athletic ability, length, and hustle.

Not quite.  We have Jakarr who is 6'8", Harkless who is also about 6'8" as well.  Brownlee wasn't much taller than 6'6" or so.  I agree though, we could use one more PF/C.   Problem is that Gathers is only about 6'6 or so, so he might not fit the criteria you are seeking.  We're not small though by most college standards, and it's not necessarily size that is winning NC's lately.

We've been starting small front lines for years.  We had Coker last year who was a pretty big guy, but not a real impact full one.  Pelle is a kid who needs work,  but is a legit 6'10" and athletic as anything.  God's Gift is also a fantastic athlete in a different mold.  I'm comfortable with those two, and Jakarr also hitting up the PF spot.  I think we'll be more than fine on the glass because of our athleticism and length.  Our SF's like Jakarr or Harkless are taller than most of frontline last year.  Harkless isn't shorter than Burrell, but with an entirely different skill set.  Good things ahead.

However Ty Walker averaged 2.5 blocks in only 18mins last year is 7 feet  230 was rated really really high coming out of high school 5 stars by scout & Rivals
This guy needs a change of scenery his College coach died before he was a frosh & then he played behind another good 7footer in Chas McFarland for most of his career. Wake actually had 3 other talented 7 foot players during Ty 3 years stay just had bad coaching & depth at his position.
We have neither problem on our roster, being that our tallest player will be 6-8. Contrary to what you read, I read that both pelle & gift are 6-8 that kind of scares me. Also Pelle said he is trying to be like Kevin Durant. So that kind of tells me something about him and what his goals are as a college Basketball player & does not sound like improving his Center skills. And this is the big east you need to be tough as nails down low!

Vote for Ty Walker

We have one returning player on our team. Perhaps Uconn isn't the best team to compare is to.

The answers are as follows:

1). Uconn won the nc last year with ONE serviceable center, which was Oriakhi
2). Roscoe smith was their starting PF at 6'7" and 195
3) God's gift might be 6'8"but at 240-250 has the size to play the post
4). No chance Pelle is sun 6'9".

The point was on the importance of a huge front court, not about returning players.  Regardless, Uconn started 3 freshmen and a soph in their starting lineup.

I think I said somewhere last year that Coker should have be redshirted. He could of gave us some minutes this year to spell GG and Pelle. 5 fouls to give and we know he wouldnt have gotten the ball on offense

Uconn started a senior too.

3 freshman won a championship in 03 with the Syracuse.

You're trying to make a point by focusing on the rare exception
yet the sensible rule is to have more than 2 bigs on a roster. No?

3 big guys averaged 10 or more minutes as true bigs (55 mins total per game from Oriakhi, Okwandu and Olander - you define serviceable and then we'll see in November if GG and Pelle meet that bar right away as well) and then they had Roscoe Smith doing the "college big" thing we're expecting from Jakarr so really just one more.  Wolf barely played.  That said that 3+1 does offer injury insurance as well as 5 more fouls to give that could be important in the long run.

We didn't start a single post player last year and we made the tourney so why now are we worrying about a height issue. We have Pelle, GG, and Sampson who are all around 6'8 or above and very athletic. We have a pretty tall team overall, a lot of players between 6'4 and 6'9, we will be fine on the boards and in the paint. Lavin runs a system where speed and athleticism count most over height and bulk. Harrison is known to be a good rebounder for his height and I think with the quality of player we are bringing in we cannot give away scholarships to people because they are tall. Gathers and KA could very well be here in 2012 and that would give us two more 6'8 guys to throw in that mix. Size is not a concern for me because we have adequate size and our system doesn't need to have four bulky 6'8 guys out there on the floor.
