Is it possible that they could be recruiting over Balamou?

Bingo

I can't believe other people jumped on the other names.  Just a gut feeling, nothing known for a fact.  But we know Lav likes package deals.  With Obekpa going south it might have been better for Felix to move on.  I liked Felix's game as you know from watching him but just trying to put 2 and 2 together here.

I think that more likely than losing Greene who is a VERY valuable asset.  I know its only speculation, but if it came down to Wood vs Balamou, I'd take Wood any day.  Wood is a very talented ball handler and scorer.  Like him a lot.

I'll  man up and say it. Felix is better than Phil. Honestly I don't even think its close. Felix is super underrated he plays a national schedule and holds his own against anyone and everyone offensively an defensively. I really like Felix, I remember when he was giving Amir garret fits last year at is8. I would take Felix over wood for the simple fact he plays both sides of the ball.

I like that scenario better than the one I suggested.   :-\

Just saying, if you're Phil and the staff brought in Branch, and now is recruiting Wood and Turner - would you be uncertain?
I'm not saying he has a right to, everybody should fight for their job at a good program.
But maybe he sees some writing on the wall.

Could definitely be a case of Balamou being recruited over though.    And I hope it is.

That's good to hear.  That scholarship seemed to be out of left field.  I saw very little film on him but he looked raw.  He looked real quick but his shot did not look good.  If he is better than Phil that is very good for us.  But i think Phil will take a big step forward this year.  Phil is a better shooter than he showed last year.

If Phil leaves we return 4 players each with only one season of D1 ball.

Only 1 or 2 games.  Love his defense and slashing.  I've seen more of Wood.  Moose said Balamou was real good when he saw him. My opinion based on limited amount of data.  I just liked what I saw of Wood's Offense better.  Greene is being undersold.

IMO, Phil will me most improved player on team this up coming season.  He really came on last yr towards end and now a full yr under his belt and most likely starting pg unless we go harrison at point to start season with an addition of a center, I think Phil comes into his own.  Great competition in practice will continue phils progression at the one.  If he thrives at the one, that could open major minutes for Felix as harrison's backup at the 2.  Just my opinion.

Greene is good but balamou was such a good get. He'd bring d'angelos game to a whole other level with having to go at it with him everyday in practice. His Jumpshot was probably his weakest point but we just addressed that two times over this weekend and it's steadily improving. He is more that capable of handling the ball and rebounds from his position very well. Darrick can be a bit wild sometimes and needs to fill out that lanky frame. I love both of these guys as well as Greene but if one had to go I'd choose Greene.

I'd keep our player Greene any day if it came down to it.  I don't want existing players, especially ones as good as Greene, leaving.  I'd take Greene staying here any day over those two.

All these kids coming back are gonna be special in their own way to make us great again.  Maybe they don't live up to rating out of high school but that wont matter as long as we r winning.  They are all talented in their own right and last year, even though we didn't win as much as we wanted to, put these kids in the right situation and they will show their true talents.  Can they all improve in some areas? Absolutely. However these guys next yr and beyond will have us singing their praises.

Nice sentiment rdstr, I agree and it's refreshing to stop and remember the talents our players do have, rather than lamenting their weaknesses.

Sorry if I took this thread on a tangent by suggesting Phil might think of leaving.   I wasn't trying to kick up controversy, honestly I was just putting 1 + 1 together in my head and somehow got 4.  Purely speculating, and I hope very much that he doesn't go anywhere.

Its funny. As soon as I heard Hoopers signing today , I thaught of Balamou. With CO likely going to Cincy, I had a feeling Balamou will not be wearing a SJU uniform next year.

I think to all of us posters, when you start bringing in full rosters, we assume the worst for guys coming back off a losing season.  However in hind sight lavins mo is bring in the best no matter what they are listed out of high school or juco based on position.  The staffs strategy is genious.  Build winning even if it means more competition from your oan practices than in some games.  One of my pet peeves with kids now a days is they lack the heart to compete against their own.  They expect everything to be handed to them because of outside interference from family, friends or hs coaches building them up to the point where egos are bigger and better than games. Now don't get me wrong, there are always gonna be kids who are guaranteed time cause of actual talent but our group has to understand that competition will make them better and the experience of our staff will have these kids learning under the best.  Moe is a prime example, no matter where he is drafted.  This is a tight nit group who will listen to moe as much as anyone they come across and that is great for our program and kids present and future.

Phil is not leaving. Moose's thought on Felix has some logic to it. This weekend should be interesting!

Taking Wood back and dropping Balamou makes us look like idiots. There should be some loyalty shown to Balamou. He didn't decommit. Why tell him he's not welcome here? Why recruit him if we don't want him? I hope that this is all just bunch of bored fans passing the time, because if it isn't it's pretty embarrassing.

Then please grace us with your expertise on why we are recruiting another 2 guard when we already have 2 signed for this year and they are joining 2 already in place.  Please enlighten me

Signing Felix was never about Obekpa. Staff really likes Felix and thinks he's a Big East player. There is no question he's a ridiculous athlete but his basketball skills are still developing. He's raw and filled with potential and staff thinks they can tap it.

Gun to my head if I had to choose one I'd take Wood but this is just my opinion.
