I think our lack of depth scares me more than a lot of height in the front court.  Lav wasn't planning to have these guys play man-up defense for long stretches of time anyway.  And our matchup zone requires the guys to rotate so much that it's just as likely an opposing post player will catch the ball with a wing like Moe or Harkless as they will GG or Pelle if he were here.

Plus; the smaller, but longer, and more athletic, lineups have huge advantages on the offensive end - we can run opposing PFs and centers into the ground.   Not to mention we have an extra shooter/ball handler on the floor to help spread out the offense.   I think the added athleticism and hands on the offensive end helps make up for some of the lack of height on defense.

But- that 7 man rotation will be a problem.  No team goes a full season without injuries.  And certainly not us, or anybody playing in the BE for that matter.   These guys are going to get banged up, and fouls concern me, not so much defending bigger men, but getting rebounds.   There's a thin line between being aggressive on the boards (which we'll have to do) and picking up silly fouls.

Lets hope we get Amir here in December.   An extra man in the rotation will probably be surely needed by then.

You can't really take much from this type of exibition good or bad, but I will press forward anyway with some random observations.
1. Who produced last night's telecast the guy who made the Blair Witch Project? Camera jumping up and down made me feel like I was on one of those simulator rides at Disney.
2. Gods Gift. WE ARE SJU is a fan. Not sure how he will fare against bigger teams but guy has some of the best hands I have seen on an SJU big. Sort of reminds me of Macklin who finished up at Florida. GG would have been a tremendous help on last years team.
3. Harkless. I can see the "poor man's Sealy" comparisons. Obviously Malik was better this point but it is a nice compliment to be compared to him in any shape or form.
4. We are going to get absolutely brutalized on the boards.
5. For a small team we do not have great outside shooting.
6. Again, need to see how it translates against bigger, better comp but I am very much looking forward to the Nuri era as long as it may last. Sort of remins me of Monte Ellis w/o the jumper.
7. That kid that Marillac raves about is nasty. WTF is he doing at CW Post?  Maybe other schools heard that Marillac raved about him and remembered he also raved about Geno so they blackballed him?
8. Green. Big fan. Might turn out to be our best shooter as well. Like his little fall back. By BE he will be starting over Stith.
9. Jamal White's bald spot is very disconcerting. He reminds me of Grainville Waiters.
10. Harrison. I like his game and confidence. I do not think he is going to be the shooter he is advertised to be though. Shoots a line drive. I am not saying he won't make shots or be a good player. I think he will. Just it is hard to shoot a high percentage when you shot a line drive.  Basically he is no Larry Wright, but then again those type of guys only pass through once in a lifetime.

I am thinking 15 or 16 wins, but it will be fun. If they all stay around and Pelle ever shows up, next year should really be something.

15 or 16 wins? A bit on the negative side don't you think? Careful, you may upset some people. :)
Why would you say that Malik Sealy was obviously better than Harkless?

Harkless played for a few minutes and put up 14 and 14.

ESPN is owned by Disney. A disgusting company. No doubt they are to blame.
