The difference between Wright/LindseyPatterson and a guy like Harrison, is that Harrison isn't afraid of the legit high major teams. Lindsey shat himself in Lexington. Yes, I'll wait a few minutes for the delusional haters to say something brilliant, like it was Harrison's fault that Lindsey didn't make one damn play in that game.

He wasn't BE material, and he's certainly not SEC material.

WASJU-   I bet you tickets to a SJU game that Lindsey has more career points at St. John's than he ever has at Arkansas.

Tale of the Tape
Dick Mcguire vs Nurideen Lindsey

Two of the all time best SJU point guards go head to head to see who was better. Lets get ready to rumble.

THREE POINT SHOOTING-
Nuri- O three pointers made in 9 games
Tricky Dick-O in 4 years.
EDGE NURI - not having a three point line is no excuse! O threes in 4 years? Cmon man if this board was around in the 40's Poison, Moose, LJSA et all grandfathers would have skewered Mcguire.

DUNKING ABILITY
Nuri-by my OFFICIAL count Nuri dunked 10 times in 9 games. A truly remarkable feat for a guard.
Mcguire-by all accounts he could not dunk
EDGE HUUUUUGE for NURI

SCORING
Nuri-averaged just under 12 per game
Mcguire-career average of only 9.6
EDGE-NURI

PASSING
Nuri-the thought of passing to two guards both shooting under 40% convinced Nuri he had to do it all himself.
Mcguire-I heard he was a pretty good passer but he played his last game at SJU the year  my dad was born so I can't really confirm.
EDGE-Slight For MCGUIRE

SHOOTING %
NURI-Very respectable 46%
Mcguire-couldn't find his SJU stats for this category. As a pro though he shot 39% for his career. Phil Greene would be envious of that % but it is ugly
EDGE HUUUGE for Nuri

SHOOTING FORM
Nuri-did not shoot so tough to tell
Dick-push shots are ugly just ask Harrison ;D
EDGE Nuri

DECISION
Nuri by KO

Some of you guys sound like Nuri is your ex-girlfriend. When she is with you she is the most beautiful girl around and then when she breaks up with you she is a nasty bitch. Let's be real Nuri is a talented ball player and also has  some glaring deficiencies. He didn't fit here and we replaced him. I think it worked out for everyone involved

+1 except for part about SJU being better off. That depends on what Nuri does with himself and how Branch turns out.

It's a lot easier to believe in someone who is trying. Someone who doesn't give up. I don't think that's such a crazy idea.

Hold on, Branch gave up on his team exactly like Nuri did on ours.

If you have to qualify your statement with "exactly" and nothing else, then there's not much substance or support to it.  Every situation in life is different.

MJ that was my point. Even with having no outside shot the "selfish", every other name he has been called guy shot way better than the two guys everyone is creaming over. I get Harrison, Greene......
It still amazes me that the kid is getting the brunt of everything when from all the accounts the staff who RECRUITED him was by all reports ok with his transfer. Then despite what all the basketball geniuses on the boards predicted he shows up at a more successful program. I think after only 11 games the staff needs to take a hit. I don't remember reading anywhere about Nuri being the conductor of a train on a skank, holding up a liquor store or beating up a swimmer. I would have liked to see things at least tried to be worked out. Kid went from our best player to a pariah in like 3 games. Nuri had faults but had a really unique talent and I would have liked to see things shake out. Sure as hell would beat watching evryones favorite Phil Lawerece, I mean Greene.
The thing is I think Harrison has taken a lot more shots outside the paint or from right neat the basket.

They have different games entirely. And Harrison actually isn't so bad around the hoop and sometimes he takes awkward shots driving to the hoop but they go in.

If Nuri took the same amount of shots from the same exact spots on the floor as Harrison his % would be below Harrison and Phil.

That being said I liked Nuri. Certainly wasn't me that trashed him on the boards. But I don't like him quitting on the guys like he did and I do believe there is a lot of truth to the theory that our guys are going to be better off in the longterm ( and maybe some didn't like him because someone told me that after the kentucky game while we were out there ).

I think Nuri was exciting. I wish him well. I don't know if Branch is going to be better but I'm happy with the tradeoff now because I think things are going to be heading very quickly in the right direction with regards to recruiting

Well Nuri signed up to play for Lav

Branch signed up for Turgeon. He ended up with Kennedy when Turg flew the coop

IMHO it could be that Nuri was as good as outta here after he missed the free throws against A&M.  Just a gut feeling -you get a shot to win -even one make would tie it and you miss both-hard pill to swallow for most-anyone else think that incident derailed Nuri?  I don't know the stats for Nuri after the A&M game-does anyone?  Were they better or worse or the same after it?
I felt for him big time and still do -having said that I do believe from all I have been able to decipher-that Nuri leaving was a good move for the team in the long run.  Whether it will be better for Nuri ????

Branch wasn't coached by the guy who he signed an LOI to play for. Lindsey was. It's not apples to apples.

I don't think a freshman should quit a team because he's not playing enough. That's bs. I don't like that part of this story any more
than I like what Lindsey did. But Lindsey was starting. Everything ran through him. He left because they tried to reign him in, and he didn't like it.

We'll see if they like his street ball crap in Arkansas. Wait until they find out he can't shoot to save his life. The SEC is all dunk and 3 pointer.

He was as bad as any starter we've ever had after he bricked those two free throws.

If he turned the ball over 5 times a game in our slow as molasses offense what will that number look like in Arkansas 40 minutes of hell?

Lindsey was coached by the guy he signed the LOI to play for in 3 games.  Lavin just said the other day one of the main reasons for transfer was that he signed to play for Lavin and he couldn't guarantee when he would be able to coach him.

Let it go.  Good luck Nuri.  In my personal opinion, as a St. John's fan, I think it was a blessing in disguise that he left.  I didn't think so at the time, but we are playing much better team basketball after he left.  Harrison, who will be here for 4 years, has taken a leadership role a year earlier than he would have otherwise.

That being said, I'll believe it when i see it,  Nuri in a Razorback jersey on the court.. From most accounts he was on the verge of flunking out.  He has to pass 2 semesters in a row to get on the court in Arkansas... we'll see.
