No need to insult those who disagree wit you, son.

Fair enough, but your argument is pretty simplistic Choz. Coach is using the phone so he must be ok???  Maybe we should just try the Jhedi mind trick on recruits next.
Recruit A- "I heard coach Lavin is in worse shape than SJU is letting on".
SJU ASST COACH-"No you didn't"
Recruit A- "ok maybe I didn't"

Look I don't know what is going on with the coach's health and I do not know if the rumors are true. but they are out there. I don't think phone calls can help but I do feel he should just concentrate on getting better and I personally feel the phome calls can actually be used against us.

Some dont want to see whats actually going on.

I for one, didnt like the way Lavin looked when he was sitting behind scorers table addressing the team. Unfortunately, I think he needs to rest. No more flying around recruiting. He has a huge staff, which he pointed out. Let them take care of it. IMO, its not helping his health being on the recruiting circuit.

I kept meaning to ask that question. Does the record this year go to Lavin or Dunlap?

Lavin.

How is this different than Coach K when those losses didn't hit his record?

Choz
See we sort of agree on this subject just from different angles. I have stated all this"when is coaching coming back" stuff is disrespectful. People speculating( I am not refering to you Choz) about coach's health and possible side effects is ridiculous. Let the man be.  I just think the phone calls are not necessary and possibly harmful. I think he should just remove himself from coaching altogether until he his 100% ready to be a full time coach.

Bottom line, while I have heard the rumors about him not coaching this season and think the phone calls are silly, I think the speculation about the man's health and side effects are wrong.  And I think the phone calls in are adding fuel to the fire.

Public embarrassment meaning difficulty with use of his faculties....  it's prostrate surgery guys, this means incontinence, a bag, or a diaper sometimes.

It's alot easier to sneak off to the bathroom at a HS gym then it is when you're on the floor at MSG in front of an ESPN audience.

If Choz is right, and that's why we haven't seen coach, then we'll be fine.   Because that kind of stuff is unfortunate, but goes away sooner or later.   If that's the only thing holding him back - he won't miss the whole season.

Ya but it sure is easy to hit the bathroom flying around the country?  Just stay home and get healthy.

Yes ...Lavin is cancer free.  I heard it from Lavin himself (is that a good source?).  He said it on one of those in game call ins.

How is this different than Coach K when those losses didn't hit his record?

Krzyzewski coached the first 12 games (9-3) in 1994-95 before taking a leave of absence after having back surgery and recovering from exhaustion. Pete Gaudet coached the final 19 games (4-15) as interim head coach. The NCAA approved the record for those games be assigned to Gaudet prior to the games being played, a move which drew criticism from many including television analyst Billy Packer. Krzyzewski later claimed "I should have been credited with all of those losses."

No doubt the the Basketball Hall of Fame would rethink his induction over this oversight.

Yeah, it's odd but per Andy Katz I believe the NCAA told STJ that this season was on Lavin's record.

After nearly a decade of mediocrity, some of you want to complain about how the actions of the staff have set us back a couple of years?!?!?!?! I guess coach should take out a full page advertisement apologizing for having cancer and requiring surgery. Shame on you! I hope coach isn’t out the entire season, but if he is and it has an impact on our 2012 recruits, then so be it! On to the next one! As long as Lavin is with us for the long term we are in great shape. Get well Coach, take as much time as you need.

Posters arnt complaining that Lavin is out for the season if thats the case. They, however are dissapointed  Some are stating consequeces I.E. worse record, recruiting disadvantage. We all would prefer to see Lavin sooner than later. If he misses this year that will set us back a little. but the most important thing is his health
