This is one of those BE games that we can win, but against Providence, we cannot afford to have that 15 or so minute span where we just look lost, and then have to make a furious comeback at the end of the game.  I think GG and D'Angelo need to maintain their recent level of play, and Moe needs to be "the man" and grab himself a high double-double for us to have a legit shot at winning.  That said, I think we'll be competitive, but lose a close one, 77-74.

67-66 SJU.

If they've got a core of 4 players let's get a couple of them in foul trouble.

Their talent isn't bad. Their depth and experience exceeds ours.

Prov - 72
SJU - 65

Read something last night that 75% of their minutes are played by 4 players.  So while they might have more scholarship players it might be thin in terms of what Cooley trusts.

True.

Cotton averages 37.5 minutes, Council 37.3, Henton 35.9 and Coleman 34.5.

Harkless leads with 34.5 minutes per game.

Our starting lineup is 7 inches taller than their starting lineup, collectively.  I understand they are a guard-oriented team, but how long can they get away starting 6'4-6'6-6'6 up front in the Big East?

Was in attendance at the last game PC played. First of all even though its early Ed Cooley has done a fantastic job so far. They play hard and scrappy all game and will be a tough game for us. Like us they aren't particularly big and dont have many shooters. I think the keys to this game will be A) slowing down Vincent Council and their fast break. He is a very good and fast player and gets the ball up court in a blur. Is capable of finishing himself or making a good pass to a teammate. B) When in our zone stay on Bryce Cotton. He is really their only consistent 3 point shooter and can light it up if open. Council is a streaky shooter and Gerard Coleman will not shoot 3's. He is the one guy we need to run off the perimeter. C) Get GG & Harkless going. IMO they have no answer for them. If they play man (They played both man & zone when I saw them) they will probably put fellow freshman LeDante Henton on him who is 2/3 inches shorter. GG should be able to have a good game with his match ups. PC's big are his height and dont have the combo of speed and strength to guard him. Their best big defender is Brice Kofane and he is extremely skinny.

I hope i'm wrong but I think we'll have a tough time slowing down Council

Staff getting paid Alot of money. They had a week to prepare. They earn their paychecks. We get a win- 72 - 67

That would make up for a few games where it looked like the staff wasn't earning their keep.   Hope you're right.  But don't forget the players and staff probably took 2 days for Christmas.

vegas has it as a pickem. i was surprised by that, thought PC would have a fav. I really have no idea what to expect from this team. they are yet to put together a full 40 min game. I think if we can put together 33 solid minutes and not just 20-25 we win, if not could get ugly. have to keep it low scoring.

:D We certainly got many t/o's which openned up running game. I was impressed that kids played hard & to win, saw no sign of afraid of making a mistake nor playing to not lose. of
