Good stuff Dan Martin

But, in his first full game back, coming on the road at TCU on December 22nd, Roberts unleashed the potential he saw in himself at St. John’s, scoring 28 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in a loss to the Horned Frogs.

I wish him well. I always thought he had some talent. But I don't remember him being a big time recruit?

I wondered why he never was able to crack the rotation last year. He looked in very good shape and he looked good in practice as well.

I thought he had a concussion and was still getting over it or was that the year before.

That was the year before when he redshirted.

No question we could use him this year. I always liked Quincy, but the reality is if we kept Q we probably don't have the space to land Garrett. I'd take Garrett over him every day of the week, and the minutes that our underclassmen are filling that would have belonged to Q will have a huge return on investment the next few years.

Maybe if Quincy stays Stith leaves? Which one would you prefer?

Out of Stith, Q Roberts, Edmonson and R Roberts, Stith is the only one who hasn't developed into a key player on his team.
So, at first glance, yea, I'd take Q, but as it turns out, Edmonson of all people, is the guy we needed.

Never saw that coming with Edmondson. In addition, never thought Ced Jackson would sniff the NBA.

Good luck to both of the but they are putting up stats at the lowest levels of Div I hoops, take the numbers with a grain of salt.

I agree but goes to show you the type of players Norm recruited and what the current STJ staff got out of last years team.

It was simple, Q is a tweener who didn't fit into Lavin's mold.  He was too slow to play the backcourt, and his shot was nothing to speak of.  Look at the wings/backcourt players Lavin's recruited, or is recruiting, they're all quick.

I don't buy that for every player. Maybe with Roberts, but Edmondon has turned into a very good player, and he'd be good against most every team. When he was here, he couldn't keep up with St.Francis. That is far from the case now.

Ty was the only STJ player I seen who I didnt think belonged on a D1 roster at any level even as a 13th man.

He just look so overwhelmed in evry aspect.

I agree with PMG -- had Stith transferred to one of those lower D-I schools, he could very easily be putting up good numbers (or do so in the future).  Malik is very fast and athletic, and would probably be one of the better athletes in those teams/conferences.  I don't fault Ty or Q for transferring, but kudos to Malik for wanting to compete against the best.  I hope he has a few moments in him this year, provides leadership/intangibles (in addition to minutes), and develops his game so that maybe next year he can contribute a bit more.

Also, I think Roberts is a different animal than the other two, as he seemed to be recruited by bigger and better schools.

Go down the list of the players Norm recruited then played at lower Div 1 like Calhoun, Wright, Jackson, Edmonson, Grey, Wait, etc. If it weren't for our current staff I do not believe that last years senior laden team would have done any better than an NIT bid and barely scratching .500 for the season.

Those were players Norm recruited, except Poles who barely got on floor in 2nd half of games

You criticized the type of player norm brought in, those were his recruits who helped get St Johns back
