Any word on Garrett's injury?

I thought Louisville was overrated but they played Kentucky pretty tough.

My impression on them is that they are not overly talented but extremely well coached, I think it will be a good game.

No teeth    - 89

(sorry, I couldn't resist the redneck reference)

'Ville isn't as good as Uconn and won't give us the same problems.  They don't have the length at guard to disrupt D'Angelo's shot and their bigs will not be as intimidating on defense.  Louisville plays at a fast pace, and that is also our strong suit.  I see a high scoring game.  Being at home, as well as having learned some lessons from our last game, I am predicting an upset.

problem is pitino teams feast on three point shots and we don't defend the three very well.

i'm not optimistic.

I agree with newsman............Kuric was shut down by UK because it was a part of Cal's game plan....... we do not defend the three well so Kuric will kill us.

It's going to be an uptempo game. They are going to pressure and get up early while St. John's will try and slow things down in the half court and struggle to score.

If you know we will slow things down in the half court and struggle to score why will we do it? When we do this they startt to look for a shot with about 5-7 seconds left in the shot clock and we end up hoisting up a garbage shot. While we don't have to run or even play up tempo when we are in the half court we must always be probing the defense and take the first good look because you may not get another. Time to stop playing afraid as in the Uconn game we made a lot of nice moves especially Pointer. Get after people.

I totally agree.  This young team needs to play their game.  When we've tried to slow things down to a crawl it's gotten ugly.  No need to rush shots or get out of control, but play aggressive and confidently- if the shot is there, take it.

If we try to take the air out of the ball we'll lose by 15.  At least.

I haven't seen Louisville yet this year but they are traditionally a pressing team.  That tends to speed up the opponent's offense.  That, combined with their tendency to run on offense should result in a fast-paced, high scoring game.  Hopefully, we play at the tempo we played against Providence.  I think that's our best chance of winning.

Does anyone else feel as though once Pointer starts to be more aggressive and more confident he will be a dominant force?  It's almost like when he wants to be, he's the most electrifying player on the floor.  I could be wrong; maybe he's just that good at picking his spots, and maybe he can't dominate until he refines his shot...I just get giddy sometimes when he pulls one of those "I'm gonna dribble once at the three point line then dunk on everyone underneath the basket whether you like it or not, just because i can" moments and can't wait for that to happen more often.

Unfortunately, that won't happen this game, and while I think it's possible we upset them, I still have this as a loss.

Louisville - 84
SJU - 75
