if lavin returns this season all the dominoes will begin to fall.
One of Sampson, gathers, opekba will commit and two more will follow. I think well jump quickly on some de-commits in the spring, as well as some late bloomers

Good take on the de-commits.   This year especially looks like there could be a HUGE coaching turnover at the end of the year....

Huge coaching turnover also increases the likelyhood that Dunlap will be gone in offseason.

I'll guess Sampson,Obepka,Wood and a juco. Orlando Sanchez? Save the rest for next class

This sounds right to me. I much prefer Sampson over Gathers due to his length. I think Gathers struggles to defend on the college level.

Obepka is a local guy and SJU is without a doubt the best choice for him for many reasons, i really cant imagine the staff not landing him.

We dont have to worry about Lavin getting players to come here. This is what he does best. This is the same guy who after spending several years working for ESPN came back to coaching and got the LA player of the year Dwayne Polee to come cross country to play for him within a very short period from when he was hired. Our 2012 class will be good.

I predict we get up to 11 and go with a 4 man class in 2012 although it could be a 5 man class if Moe declares after his soph year.

Sampson or Gathers
Obekpa
Wood
Juco or transfer PG or another 4/5

Ted, you are the closest here so far:)
As for Moe, PLEASE stop with the NBA talk!! I know Moe and he will be the last person to tell you he is anywhere near being ready for the NBA! Personally, I think by the end of his junior year if he gains 20 lbs, and believe it or not, he may actually grow another inch, he may be ready but the coaches have been trying to make him mentally more aggressive but his personality is very conservative.....no tats, no bullshit....just an all-around great kid.

That is great to hear. I love how levelheaded this kid is. He is nowhere near ready for the NBA but has the potential to be a college star and then be an NBA pro. The toughest thing to change is a kids personality. Moe is not a rah rah guy . He will learn that his skills are superior and allow his game to take over. He is fast becoming one of my alll time Johnny favorites and the biggest compliment I can pay him is that he reminds me so much of Malik. He can take that and not get a swellled head.

Struggle to defend? He will be able to twist his man into a pretzel! :)

Is there any worries with the Big East Conference still being up in the air? We may have a super conference next year if Marinatto keeps his word of not letting any team go until the 27 months are up.

I too would be very happy w that group. Yesterday you said we would be lucky to get 2 recruits of the ones we have been talking about. There are so many studs in the 2013 class that are considering us I think Lavin saves a couple of scholis for them.

Oh 2 recruits is a must. Absolutely have to have 2 Big East ready recruits. Sampson and Obepka with 2 role players would be minimal

Is there any interest in Leroy Fludd?

Without ever having seen him, he seems like one of those players who didn't improve after 9th or 10th grade, so I say no. But maybe someone who has seen him can give a better assessment.

Fuquan Edwin is a prime example of why finding local players who are marginal Big East talent can work out. He'll be a nice 4 year player at Seton Hall

This is partially true.  You can also find marginal Big East talent outside of the local area that can work out.  Edwin is a good player, but let's see how things work out for him once Theodore and Pope leaves.  He certainly benefits from playing alongside those two.

Feel free to do both -- I really had no clue who to put after the first two names.

I'll take his 13.5 points a night.  Right now, we have 2 guys who are capable of that

13.5 points and leading the country in steals, not bad at all
