I'll bet up to $250 bucks total to anyone that by the end of the ncaa tourney we have commitments from 2 players who are consensus top 100 players for the next 2 years.

I will wager $250 that Baldi will not take the other side of this bet.
I will give the money in advance to Dave of the other person does also. If the other person wants to give me better odds I'm willing to bet on 3 guys

Michael. Spoken like a true Camel Man! LOL!
As Choz would say " True Dat " :)

Never bet when you unless it's a lock. Thats why I don't play cards :)

BTW Baldi certainly called Lavin not coming back. And he certainly called 1000 predictions that didn't come true. So While I don't think I ever called Baldi out on that type of thread ( but I might have ) I certainly won't apologize until he apologizes for 1000 worthless posts that I got sucked into reading :)

But the thing I feared most might happen. A clock is right twice a day and Baldi is right once a year. ugghhh. But kudos because I can't deny you were right on this one

Do you mean like the old "the kid is coming" posts about every recruit Norm didn't get? That was a Bluto specialty. BTW I want credit for predicting Bluto would have to be anti whoever the coach who followed Norm would be. That would be the only way he could continue to antagonize the rest of you.

Im not anti Lavin at all. At a game at the Garden when Jarvis was coaching, I yelled at Lavin if he wanted the job. He and Digger laughed. There is a difference between predictions and some info being passed along

Thankyou ras. Its not popular to agree with me which has become obvious. WASJU was posting what he heard also and he was criticized.

I already gave you credit for being one of the first to bring up Lavin's name. That actually brings your being correct total up to two in over 10,000 posts. Not bad ;)

You were more positive about your 2nd favorite program under Norm though. But hey someone has to balance out all the delusional people on these boards though.

Yes I was more positive. Norms guys were easy to root for even though we killed them on a daily basis. Not saying I dont like this team at all, but I hate all the ineligible and questionable character stuff

Like Rodney Epp and Derwin Kitch gettin inelg'ed? Or Aaron Spears suspended? Or C-Jac, Dex, Ricky, Avery Patt, Larry W, etc. transferring?

Or whatever.

'Cause none of that cast a negative light character-wise on Norm and Co. to me.

And whatevers happenin this year dont cast no negative light on Lavin neither.

This is college ball. This is what happens. Aint no character issues.

But you make it sound like Lavin is runnin a dirty program wit a bunch of thugs. Cant be farther from the truth Baldi.

These kids are just as easy to root for. I suggest you give it a chance.

Dont put words in my mouth.

Lavin has been here barely a year and has had a boatload of decommits, transfers, ineligibles etc. Some of those decommits and transfers were by his hand. Omari,Ron Roberts,Polee,Pelle,Sampson,Nuri, Jevon Thomas,Gathers,Wood and asked Stith to go. Lost out on Momo and Harrow

I don't think there has been an easier player to root for than Mo Harkless. He was the first big time recruit to come here in 10 years.

Choz,

Your response to Badli was spot on and then as usual he spins it.

This is Lavin's program now and he felt it is in the best interest of the team to tell certain players what the new deal it, go right ahead. CEO's do this all the time.

AND PLEASE...you are going to go after the few players Lavin didn't bring it. Look at ALL the players Norm struck out on, the list could go on forever!!!! What Lavin did in one year, no coach at SJU has pretty much ever done. Give the man some time and he took some chances because he pretty much had too!!!!! Cleaning up Norm's mess.

As mentioned before, this is not CYO, this is a big time business and it is not about being nice and fair.

Didn't you? "I hate all the ... questionable character stuff"

The only recruits whose character was questioned were Nuri the delusional woman quisling and the decommits, and that was only by the disgruntled after they left.

Questionable character stuff?      That's just inflammatory bs.

But, in Baldi's defense (and I take no joy in saying that) he's not wrong about the environment of volatility that has enveloped our program.  And I assume that's what he was refferring to when he said "ineligible stuff"

Polee transferring, Jevon decommiting,  3 ineligible recruits we sent to the same summer classes, Sampson then decommiting, Pelle  then decommiting, Gathers decommiting,, Nuri transferring, and now Wood being either inelidgible or decommiting depending on how you look at it.

Lavin had surgery; true, but much of this happened before that.   Decommitments and eligibility issues are a problem at every school; true, but this has all happened in 8 months time.  Nuri was a cancer and/or uncoachable; likely true, but he also had some talent and was a warm body for a team with 6 players.   Jevon turned out not to be the player SJU wanted; possible, but then we struck out on KA, Reinhardt, etc.

My point is, individually there are plausible reasons for everything that's happened.   But all in 8 months time?    Wood may never be eligible, and so this may not be a true "decommitment", and as an isolated incident it seems inconsequential.  But all we've seen since Lav got here is one question mark after another.

In the one year Lavin's been here he's gotten commitments from 13 recruits,  7 of them have rescinded their association with St Johns in one way or another.  I'm not suggesting anything, those are just the facts.  And that's not typical of a well-run college program.  You can point to Kansas having three freshmen ineldigble this year as well, but they also didn't have 2 guys transfer out, and five verbals decommit; all within less than a year.

Hopefully this is just an aberration.

If we are keeping score (and forgive any misspellings):

Jarvis
Shaw (kicked off team), Smith (transfer), King (transfer), Greene (verbal committ, rescinded, never came), Ighadoro (committ never made it here), Fordham (committ, wasn't eligible to transfer as he didn't get his associates, did another year at Nassau Community but couldn't play before coming), Wolfinger (transfer), Reynolds (kicked -off team), Ingrahm (Kicked-off team) Keita (Kicked off team), Orvis (transfer) Williams (didn't original come because didn't finish JUCO requirements to graduate due to illness, came later, I only include him because he didn't come when he was originally supposed to), Doyle (transfer), Parker (transfer - originally a walk-on but I believe he was on schollie one year), Charles (transfer)

Roberts
Jones (Jarvis recruit - transfer), Edmundson (transfer), Gray (transfer), Jackson (transfer), Torres (transfer), Patterson (transfer), Epperson (Jarvis recruit - ineligible), Kitchen (ineligible), Wright (transfer), Wiggins (decommitts goes to Yukon), Cavataio (transfer)

Lavin
Q. Roberts ( Robert's recruit - transfer), Poole (transfer), R. Roberts (Roberts recruit - released from LOI), Lyndsey (transfer), Lawrence (Robert's recruit - transfer), Pelle (Decommitt after not being eligible), Sampson (decommitt after not being eligible), Gaithers (decommitt), Wood (decommitt), Garrett (ineligible, honors committment and comes once he's declared eligible), Thomas (decommitt), Merkle (released from LOI).

Momo couldn't come here due to NCAA regulations since not enough time had lapsed from when he played for Hicks at Rice.

Incidentally, Jones and King were eventually kicked-off the teams of the schools they transfered to and I am not sure Ricky Torres ever played.

Lastly, I posted to Marco's wondering when St. John's and Lavin would make a decision to think of it like an injury in terms of when it is determined he is healthy, he will be back.
