Lavins keeping busy.

Lavin will head to the Spalding Hoophall Classic this weekend to watch Obekpa and 2012 targets JaKarr Sampson and Ricardo Gathers, as well as Amile Jefferson.

Hopefully he gets us back in the running for Jefferson as well.

Also a bunch of prospects playing at Baruch college this weekend if anyone wants to check it out.

Also slated to play are uncommitted 2013s Jermaine Lawrence of Cardozo, Rysheed Jordan of Robert Vaux, Davon Reed of Princeton Day, Terrence Samuel of South Shore and 2014 guard Isaiah Whitehead of Lincoln.

I'm guessing a lot. But I am glad Lavin will be one of them.

Will probably head there one of the two days.  Last year Lav, Chiles and Rico were all there.

I heard it is an exclusive screening for NY & LA audiences.  Other coaches have to wait for the nationwide release

Well there goes Lawrence.

No.

Choz is right.  Might be a coach or two that can make it depending on games and proximity to Springfield but most likely not much.

Moose -- you saying that Lawrence transferring hurts his chances of landing with the Johnnies?

No I'm saying he won't be playing at that tournament this weekend anymore :)

Didn't think of it that way. I was thinking with all of the talent there would be a lot of coaches, but didn't take into account that Lavin is really the only coach that doesn't have to schedule his recruiting around his teams games.

Does his new school have a good basketball program? Definitely an interesting transfer.

we would have won at least A&M and Detriot if he left earlier.

I object.  Speculation, conjecture and unprovable.

I'll now make a similiarly ridiculous statement:

I would have married Jessica Biel and lived happily ever after if my wife had left earlier.
Wow did you run into some bad luck! Jessica Biel would have been sweet! :)

I disagree anything after Justin Timberlake is never better...The only thing worse would be Ashton Kutcher...Now if you said Heather Graham, then your right!
Heather Graham "Swingers" era maybe...otherwise, Mila Kunis or Megan Fox would do - lol

Wonder how long before some school files a complaint about Coach Lavin, and the "unfair advantage" he's getting in recruiting.

Since other head coaches are stuck coaching their teams, Steve is getting a lot of unchallenged "head coach to prospect" access other coaches aren't.   And Lavin one on one TERRIFIES most other coaches....

Pope John doesnt have that great a basketball program. Blair Academy would attract Charlie Villanueva and Luol Deng, etc. Pope John is good academically with an okay football program but never heard much noise about their basketball program.

Some coaches have their own practices and some of them are just god awful.

I honestly couldn't see lav using the whole "negitave" recruiting thing with a recruit.

Not his style. Could see Calhoun, Huggins and Boeheim doing that.
