I truly think...

Whoever Lavin really wants, he will get.

In Lavin we trust!

I hope Lavin wants Shabazz Muhammad.

Clearly that's why we have no bench this year and no one (except 1 player who won't be eligible to play until December at the earliest) has committed for next year as of yet.

Wouldn't this kind of b!tching be more appropriate if the guys we're targeting had committed elsewhere?

I say trust in Lavin and just enjoy the baptism of fire experienced by our FROSH.

I predict a Lavin comeback right around the spring signing period starts. ;-)

I was really buying into the notion that Lavin being full-time on the recruiting trail would benefit St. John's in a big way.  But after seeing how this Gathers recruitment went, I'm skeptical of it now.  He is basically missing the entire season and he has only one recruit to show for it.

I really hope that he is able to land at least two big name players in the spring or this is going to wind up being an abysmal failure of a year.

I'm more skeptical of Gathers' brother sudden involvement more than anything.

Is it just me, or does anyone else have a big smile when they see Coach sitting with Mary Ann and they're analyzing the game together, furiously sending out text messages to the bench, etc. It warms my heart to see  them working together like that - THAT truly is a husband-wife team!

Sorry -- this post is a joke, right?  You're being sarcastic, right?

I hope he lands some guys because it is getting to the point where they might not have enough players to even field a team.

Do you really think it would come to that?  Good lord.  This guy can't go a month without landing a recruit before our fanbase is ready to write the program's obit.

that was more tongue in cheek but keep overreacting

it'd be kind of nice to have a full squad though

Marillac is starting to remind me of Kevin Bacon at the end of Animal House shouting "all is well, remain calm" as the mob runs him down after the Death Mobile rams into the bleachers and Senator Blutarsky kidnaps Mandy.

I'm sure this will be met with hostility, but is there any suspicion/confusion about this whole full time recruiting and not coaching by Lavin?

I mean it seems completely backwards in terms of which is more strenuous. Coaches have always stated it's much more strenuous to be out on the recruiting trail than it is to be coaching. It just seems logically that it'd be more of a drain to be flying all over the country recruiting than to be in one place sleeping in his own bed every night.

I mean I think it's best for St. John's. You need players and his talents are better served out on the recruiting trail. This season was going to be a lost season no matter what. It also allows him to say that the team would be better if he were on the bench. I'm just suspicious that it's really for his health and not just to improve recruiting.

Did he ever discuss why it's easier to be recruiting than coaching? Even if does less days on the trail compared to day to day coaching, but that seems to be balanced out by the fact that Lavin is still attending most of the games and traveling more. Just curious.

Why should he delve into his medical problems?  He says it's a stamina issue, but my guess it's probably more delicate than he'd like to explain to the message boards.   A Georgetown fan of course is the appropriate one to root this out... ::)

He discussed it on TV a few weeks ago.  He said that coaching a game took more of a toll on his recovery than sitting on a plane or in a gym.
He had his set back from trying to coach games too soon.  He then found that he could do the recruiting without harming his recovery - much to the dismay of other BE fans.

I am a Lavin fan! 100%! I am eternally grateful to him from rescuing us from Norm. Now with that being said some of you are clearly insane! Losses were expected this season and so were some blowouts. If you add up everything else that has happened this season has been a disaster. "Dismay of other BE fans" lol. We barely have more wins than players.
